  1. Actualy it was Tony Tribe or at least thats the version UB40 were paying homage to. Suprised a certain pete smith hasn't jumped in with that one
  2. They'll be playing good R&B then I guess. Or will they not be playing anything that was recorded with the intention of getting into the R&B charts stateside? I think this do will probably be right up my street in the main judging by the DJs but pidgeon holing records and then denegrating them like this does little for the scene. As Roger Banks often says "When is an R&B record not an R&B record? - When its a Stafford record" nuff said for me.
  3. Cheers Jordi, I can't get over how this isn't better known I can't wait for it to arrive now. The copy I have comming is also on black Ultra City. Though it is listed on a discography for Tri City and on a Funk play list on the web as being on Tri City. So I guess it came out twice. Ged
  4. More importantly if you are selling this record in particular and do not know who it is by shouldn't you MAKE SURE
  5. James thanks mate I have one on hold after hearing it over the phone but will agree a price with your info in mind. It will come in a group of other stuff so i'll get it for next to nothing anyway. Marc similar story with the Mark Richards I obviously want to get these items cheap but this guy has come through for me on a number of things in the past so want to be fair with him. The real interesting one for me is the 21st Generation - Hey James only info I can find has this on Tri City but this one is on Ultra City the same lable as the Black Eyes Peas - Samllest Man Alive. I know Albert Jones is in the writing credits so Tri City makes more sense but I've seen the scan so a bit of a puzzler like the Big Red being on Arnold Any way guys as usual thanks for your help its much appreciated. Ged
  6. Ted not sure that George will appreciate having his ebay id disclosed Mind you it has stopped me bidding on a couple of items such as the 'Moments - You Said' not point mates pushing bids up against one another. I think this is one that Manship is way under on perhaps because he hasn't had one for sale for years.
  7. Cheers Tony I have seen it on Flying V out of Hamilton Ohio. I have on hold a copy on Arnold out of Detroit found by a contact of mine in New Jersey. I am informed that Arnold operated out of a P.O. box mumber in Detroit? Not sure which is the first issue tho or what is a reasonable price? Thanks for the help tho much appreciated
  8. 21st Generation - Hey James / I Need Love - Ultra City Gi Gi - Daddy Love - Sweet Big Red & The Comancheros - I'll Be So Glad - Arnold The Objectives - Love Went Away - Jewel Mark Richards - She Can Make Me Cry - ABC Paramount All leads gratefully received
  9. I've had a copy since it was a new import and always liked it. I also got sent a free copy a couple of years ago from a guy of e-bay who thought he may have mistakenly put an extra + on the vg++ description of a record i won so he put that in aswell as an apology. The record I won (Esquires 'My Sweet Baby' Hot Line $22 if I remember rightly) wasn't battered by any means so a nice gesture.
  10. Inverts 'Time WILL Change' -Broadway will set you back about £250 was on on a list in the last week or so think it was Pat Brady's. Long time since I saw one for sale apart from that one. It's superb sound you never hear anymore have to dig mine out me thinks.
  11. funniest is trying to understand some DJs but after a while you get used to them and their phrases or at least some of the words a one big name once said "gfhajgjagjad supoh reds psurdsueryeqwr todmorden adsfjsdf;;dsfjkj Classic for yoh dsan.,m.sadlldnkd like this"
  12. this actually is a top tune not northern by any manner of means but still great. I'm not sure I'd pay that for it tho but i'm suprised there are no bids from the doo wop fraternity.
  13. Not involved in the do so no axe to grind but music wise it really is my cup of tea (Pint of Stella) I have to pass many dos to get there if i'm going from home but if I've been working down south its a must on the way back.
  14. Really Chalky I'm sure mine is (was) on vinyl has it been booted on a red lable with stamped matrix number then? May not matter I've been looking for mine on and off for a month now can't find the bugger. Wanted to play it out for Steve McWilliams found the 'She's My Beauty Queen' but not the 'Ain't Nothing You Can Do'
  15. Original white copies are demos and it should say so on the lable. Issues are red both the issue and the demo are stamped. Sounds like a boot to me sorry
  16. The Ideals - I Got Lucky - St Lawrence. Superb and I played out last Saturday night Ernie Johnson - Big Man Cry - Steph and Lee got a pretty good reaction too. Funny how you forget how good these tracks are.
  17. Remeber the mind is like a parachute; useless until its open. You can tell Northern is repetitive by the way we all agree on exactly what it is and we all like the same records
  18. The meaning of terms such as 'Disco' seem to alter over time. Remeber the Casino was voted ahead of Studio 54 as the 'Best Disco' in the world.
  19. Not worth $50 IMO or I could just be putting you lot off so I can bid and win it cheap
  20. I didn't know your grammer was Swedish was your gramper born over there too
  21. Sold one for £60 last week at Bidds after loads of people saying over the last month 'thats too cheap' but not buying it. I dare say I could have stuck a ton on it but I was happy enough to see it go at £60 I thought that was the going rate.
  22. I know that but once it's in a price guide any yanks (or brits for that matter) selling it will want £2k. Incidently he rates the Rouser copy at £8k maybe cos he's got one of the two known copies
  23. Heres a few that express the right sentiments Soul Brother Six - I'll Be Loving You Bobby Reed - I'll Find A way Garland Green - Girl I Love You Apolas - Can't Get Enough of You Candace Love - Wonderful Night Living Color - Thank The Lord For Love Sooperloop - Baby Be Mine Vince Apollo - I Bear Witness Tim - I Need Your Love Jimmy 'Bo' Horne - I Just Can't Speak Eldridge Holmes - Lovely Woman Emanual Laskey - Don't Lead Me On Baby Gene Redding - I Need Your Love Jackie Wilson - Because of You Finish off with 'If You Don't Come' 'Where Does That Leave Me' Patience Valentine and Romance Watson respetively cos you for a good relationship you need 'Patience and Romance' but you could always just 'Come' and 'Leave'
  24. Time Brown recons about £2k Love the record but'll never own it at that price. Mind you I was saying that about Eddie Daye this time last year
