  1. My Life With You is another pop record that I quite like wouldn't dream of playing it out though - If your taking requests how about a rendition of 'the hills are alive'
  2. Not soul related but I have a lot of over 15,000 45s on ebay at the moment top bid is at £20 I am wondering what to spend my profit on
  3. Dan you are sooooooo funny
  4. I think rare is a balance between supply and demand. There are records with very few known copies that no one wants to own or hear yet if there are 200+ copies of a record everyone wants and you can't buy one for love or money then I think that is rare in the context of what I mean by rare. But that may just be me As for how many you need to own 23-26 60's will do an hour but what about your next set? Maybe the question should be how many bookings do you need to get before you are a DJ?
  5. Surely you mean Kenya Collins and NOT Mr Caldwell
  6. Andy can't believe you can't think of anything worse. It's white, it's pop but it's not as bad as some of the above. Not played this for years so my memory may be playing tricks on me but it was exactly right for the scene in '78 mind you '78 was maybe the worst wigan year .
  7. Two good cheepies Kelly Brothers - Crying Days Are Over - Sims Sure fire winner every time A.B. White - Check Yourself - T and L Not so well known but a grower worth buying now
  8. Explaining the new girlfriend to Margaret would be the difficult bit she can forgive my obsession with vinyl but not sure I'd live if the other love in my life wasn't inanimate
  9. Yes. Often it isn't the wrong record or the wrong crowd it's just that they aren't right for one another. I have only played Richard Marks out once when I knew it would be appreciated that was at Soul or Nothing. Wouldn't dream of playing it at Lytham when we have a full dancefloor. I made that mistake with the Vondells doesn't make the Vondells a bad record or me an egotistical demon or maybe looking at the other thread it does.
  10. Anything by Junior Walker. Does that get things suitably back on topic
  11. Count me in at £200
  12. I don't dance that often now particularly if the bar or record room are too far from the dancefloor but I have paid as much to get in as others does my opinion count at all? I like to be educated, I like to hear something new / different, I wont like it all but that's cool. I used to love Farleys Rusks but I have tried new things since then not liked them all but now I eat all sorts of things I didn't eat years ago. Nice to see the 'Parachute' count down earlier in the thread remember the mind is like a parachute works best when its open
  13. I know what works best for me........... Handing over to the next DJ .
  14. I remember getting a 12" single (Garfield Flemming Please Don't Send Me Away) through my letter box stamped on it were the words "RECORDS DO NOT BEND" rather wittily the postman had written "Oh Yes They Do" underneath before posting. Needless to say the record was ruined but I got my money back from the post office took ages though. I remember it was around Christmas and the postman was one of these extra casual staff they get in when their busy.
  15. He's a big collector who I have had some nice bits from. He is also a font of knowledge particularly about New Orleans labels. I was sure there would be others on here that deal / dealt with him but if not forget I said anything
  16. Just had a message from Carole Spires that Kris is safe and well following Katrina. He has lost almost everything he owns though and is currently somewhere in northern TX. I avoided the temptation to ask about water damaged records for obvious reasons. I'm sure it will be a while before he is hunting out vinyl again but great news that he's safe.
  17. Betty for sure, Regular spin for my mate Steve Mc Williams at Lytham. May get an outing this Saturday
  18. If you check out his ebay store it is clear this should be $7.50 like the 'Show Me The Way to Your heart' for $7.50 buy it now. suprised that hasn't gone
  19. UK everytime. Except most of the stuff I want is US only. Where there are both the UK demo is ussually the rarest format though not neccessarily the dearest as there isn't a demand for them outside the UK so less people chasing them.
  20. Christian I'll PM You
  21. My dad wore thick longjohns to keep his warm
  22. Issue was £70 and Demo £90 I think, unless your a taxman then the noughts are typing errors . Actually the demo went at my last visit to Bidds
