  1. You could book me I'd play it for ya if you ask nicely lol. "Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload a file with that file extension" Dunno what I did wrong but can't uplaod the file. You lot appear to be able to . So your gonna have to book me if you wanna hear it. (or Sam, Butch or Keb I guess )
  2. Not sure he could have rejected his bid to be honest Derek it was a snipe with 6 seconds to go. Mind you mine was only 4 seconds earlier . I'm just not sure how ebay view these things but had the deal been face to face I would have walked away with the records when I paid for them so we wouldn't be in this mess.
  3. Bit of a stinker this. I was the second highest bidder on an ebay lot and thought I'd missed out . The winning bidder was also a soul source member if an infrequent poster. I then received a second chance offer on the item so asked the seller to confirm it was the same lot and why the high bidder had pulled out. The seller then replied confirming the lot was indeed the same and that he was not selling to the high bidder due to negative feedback (the sellers words not mine). I the sent him over $1,200 via paypal within minutes and he sent me a confirmation email to say the 45 were being shipped. I have just received another e-mail from the seller telling me that the high bidder is going to complain to ebay and that he now feels he should sell them to the high bidder as long as he pays him this weekend. I view the sale as complete. He made an offer, I did not solicit the offer, I paid him what he asked for straight away. To my mind he now should send the lot to me. Either way the seller will be reported to ebay for non compliance I guess but I have done nothing wrong and have already paid for the lot and expect the records to be sent to me. Am I being unreasonable?
  4. The copy Sid had for £1,000 a few months ago had actually sold for considerably less than £500 a few months earlier when Sid bought it at Middleton. Not for me to say but it was considerably less than £500 and less than 12 months ago or not much more. Agree it is a rare item though.
  5. Must be Arnold Blair of Trying to Get Next to You fame surely?
  6. Thats my understanding too.
  7. I have never paid over the odds for a record at the time of buying. In hindsight now it may appear I have paid over the odds and indeed others may have though I paid over the odds at the time. But if I willingly part with my cash how the hell can it be over the odds to me?
  8. How long did it take you to work out that if you pushed your pockets and their contents into your undies you could swallow dive, handstand etc without a worry.
  9. Guy Hennigan did Vietnam in the 80's I think. I have a number of British items from the BBC record library. They are stored in a inner polythene sleave rounded at one end (to the exact profile of a 45) and folded ove like an envelope at the other. They are then stored in another see through sleave with an index on the right hand side kinda like the thing you used to get in libary books saying who took em out and when. A couple have on the inner sleave 'Handle with Care - This record could be irreplacable '
  10. Thorsten, No one I have asked even knows this track. In fact I have not found anyone who has even seen it before, until now of course. Very rare indeed and you will know the price of some of his other early stuff. I wouldn't be parted from mine at any price.
  11. Marc is the local issue before it came out on Challenge. I played this in my early spot at Lytham on Sat superb tune should get more turntable action imo
  12. I won't be there Steve but I think you have a resounding answer from the gasher Mind you I like it.
  13. Absolutely not. I admire many black people, some singers in particular, but pretend to be black not in the sense implied in the question. It is possible that some people maybe even me included have imagined them selves as a particular singer whilst belting out an accompaniament to a 45 playing at full vloume in the privacy of our own homes . But only in the way I used to imagine myself as Dennis Tuart scoring with an overhead kick in the '76 league cup final. : up: I don't know where the quote is from but they obviously got it all wrong, in my opinion at least.
  14. Shame he appears to have written his name on both sides of every record he ever had
  15. I'm another that will buy a rough looking copy if plays ok. Some records I own I have only ever seen one copy of, LaWanda William for example, so had I not bought that very copy there and then I would still not own one. Much rather have a minter given a choice but if its a choice between having a copy at all and not, give me the copy every time
  16. Interesting one this I have also spoken to Julian (lilpedler) about these. What I am interested in is if they were indeed done years ago with the same stampers and so are identical are they infact originals? What if they were done with the same stampers but on Tuesday when the first ones of the the press were on the Monday? Would that make them originals or is it just the passage of timethat calls these into doubt? What about originals that were pressent weeks and hundreds of miles apart like the many with east and west coast versions. These records are being questioned because of the quality of the paper. What about records like the superlatives the light blue ones are considered originals but the yellow ones (still originals) are rarer and so more pricey. surely they weren't pressed at the same time. Interested in peoples view really
  17. But users often only search the one they're on rather than worldwide.
  18. I didn't hear a rumour about a load of imaginary copies not being found recently
  19. No I had to shell out a whole $40 on mine when you could have had a train ride, a night out on the town, entry into a seedy nite club, some pharmaceutical support for your depression, a bottle of lucazade and entry in to wigan baths for less
  20. You let an MGM copy of Dean Courtney go for less than the price some boots sell for? I'm shocked. I'd have given double that even if there was a BIG box found
  21. This seller sure has a sense of humour he has added "upon listening to this record again. I realize that it is in better shape than I previously stated. It is way less noisy than I thought originally. No skips, very little crackling. Doesnt look so hot still, but you can dance to it for sure!" He has more confidence in my dancing ability than I do
  22. The last Mixed Feelings on ebay was £1500 'Buy it Now' from a dealer in the UK it sold within 20 minutes of being listed. Had I seen it before it sold I'd have bought it as I have been offered considerably more than that for my copy by people on this very forum.
  23. 20 odd is a massive amount of copies of Jackie Day but would be a tiny number of copies of Sam Dees when you look at the number as a percentage of copies that where known to be around prior to any discovery. Picking up on rumours is one of the reasons I come on here. If we all had to be sure everything we said on here was absolute fact rather than rumour, conjecture, bias or personal opinion no one would ever post anything. I don't doubt the integrity of Pete or John at all but Dan has expressed my opinion better than I ever could. Well done that man.
