  1. It's not on ABC Shute All the same a superb track I have just used this as a filler on a CD I've done for someone. I think actually it was the a-side when first released. I love stuff this tempo. On ABC try Maxine Brown - I Got A Funny Kinda Feeling -Uptempo R&B and the Storming It's Gotta Be Love - The Kittens
  2. PM on its way to ya.

Tone, Your knowledge, and for that matter memory, never ceases to amaze me thanks for the info another good read.
  4. Soul Up North Soulful Kinda Music Rare Soul Review In The Neighbourhood Free Fanzine The Pete Coulson one who's name escapes me and what was the one in the 60's that Dave Godin did for the Motown club and was this the first?
  5. Not long after this was filmed Mauriced had his collection stolen . It doesn't always pay to advertise. The music is hardly descriptive of what we play now. Mind you I'm not sure Richard Temple was played even in '93 I think the TV company had to overdub with something they could get the rights to. There can't be many venues still holding northern events that were holding them in '74 or maybe earlier (I didn't go until '76). Next night here 9th September £3 in (I think it was £3 13 years ago when Maurice was promoting the venue)
  6. What about things not for sale on your site? I wouldn't expect to pay to see the prices of stuff you have for sale? Maybe I'm being dumb? or maybe I should just use your sales lists as a price guide like it appears loads of people do. John, are you sure that figure is correct - 7 to 9 MILLION...I doubt all the websites in the world put together don't get that many hits in a month. If this is page impressions Pete its very high but not off the scale. There some 'specialist' sites that hit over 750,000 page impressions per Day
  7. Article on front page Gash gives the full low down.
  8. Ed, A good indication of how difficult this would be is the number of people John Manship needed to thanks for allowing him to scan records for his "Million Dollars of Rare Soul" book. From memory there are six or more serious collectors so even that 'limited' number of 45s needed a few collectors to cover them all. My wants list is about twice the size of my collection and I have 35,000+ singles (mainly cheapies I hasten to add)

    OK I won't
  10. Impossible IMO with so many quality one offs and acetates around. I would guess that Tim Brown is the closest??
  11. I, like many others, only use the guides as a guide. I have always viewed the prices as dollars and indeed tended to subtract the VAT when buying. I much prefer the Goldmine and Osbournes guides when buying though . An online guide will be very useful, I assume it will be via subscription John? I'd really like to be able to download the data to a PDA rather than carry a guide about my own excel wants list on my PDA is limited in terms of info and has what I am willing to pay rather than a 'guide' price. Not sure if type of functionality is feasable? I'm sure you would need to make sure it was secure or there would be hooky copies of the data in no time at all but it would be worth buying for sure. In an ideal world price guides wouldn't exist at all but you can't uninvent them mind you in an ideal world it would be $4 to £1 and I would be the only buyer on ebay
  12. See Kev it isn't that difficult. You could just cut and paste the above.
  13. It's usually women that use Dutch Kapps isn't it Nick or are you trying to tell us something?
  14. Sabbs aren't like that are they anyway you would be off this time of year as it's so quiet and cos of all the hours you have worked over the year annualised hours are great aren't they . Anyway I am sure there is a protocol that means I've said enough already
  15. I can take or leave the mic to be honest. I use one if its there and if its not I errr don't obviously For some DJ's its their mic technique that lets them down speaking across it rather than into it, holding it too far away and shouting or most often holding it too close. Very few venues except the biggest ones have monitor speakers so you cannot always tell how you sound through the mic anyway. A lot of sets you hear include various styles of soul music, some 60's some 70's and maybe some crossover or R'n'B, so ensuring every record flows into the next is almost impossible otherwise the first record you play may well dictate the tempo / style for the whole set so when switching styles the mic is useful. All IMO of course
  16. Gee Baby - The Festivals

Clearing the floor with that tune I wonder does that mean: a) It is a poor record, not soulful or not a dancer b)You are a bad DJ c) Some dancers can and will only dance to what they know. I know the record obviously but don't know you at all; even so my money is firmly on c) every time.
  18. I don't think there is a 'Halfway House' if you are into soul music you are passionate about it. You may express that passion differently to other people but haven't met anyone yet who can just take or leave it.
  19. Two comments from me I think everyone knows my views by now: Boots are pressed as a money making exercise they are overpriced because of it CDs are much better value. Once a record is booted anyone can play it and probably does so the novelty of hearing the sound soon wears off. I used to love Lou Pride I'm just tired of it now whether it is original or not, but I am only tired of it as a result of it being booted. There are records that were favourites of mine years ago that didn't get booted and they still can make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I hear them played out.
  20. The second chance offer did come through ebay. The seller as shown above chose to make second chance offer based on the fact that the high bidder had not replied to him and had some negative feedback. One of the problems is there was not a timescale quoted. The seller jumped the gun in my opinion in making the second chance offer but that's not my fault. I paid for the lot on the Thursday and the seller was negotiating with Chris until Sunday before he agreed to ship the lot to me. All that time the seller had my money and it appears from what Chris has said was offering parts of the lot to him. I will think long and hard before accepting any second chance offers in future no matter how much I wan a record.
  21. Chris some detail you may want to consider before accusing me of jerking you out of this lot: LOT OF 200 - R & B - NORTHERN SOUL - BLUES - FUNK 45'S (260013761295) This message was sent while the listing was active.deancourtney is a potential buyer. Can you confirm that all the items within this lot are still available. In particular the Honey and the Bees 45 on Academy. Can you also let me know why the high bidder pulled out. This is a high value transation and I have to be sure that all the pictured items are included. Thank you Ged (deancourtney) Thats is my question after being made the second chance offer. Here is his reply Hello- All the pictured items are included - With Honey & the Bees- The highest bidder did not pull out - he has not contacted me yet after my email to them and I see he has several negitive coments in the past 12 months - Full refund if not satisfied with the purchase and you can see my positive comments. - ( 7-10 days delivery to you ) Thanks and let me know . Eric As you can see from this I did not contact the seller until after the second chance offer had been made. You can see that by the fact that the auctionis live and that the item number has changed. I did contact YOU to see if you wanted to SELL the Honey and the Bees what is wrong with that. The seller chose to contact me to offer the second chance how the hell is that my fault. I paid him what he asked for straight away agin not my fault. It was you that asked him to seperate out items I had already paid for and be sent them free. You clearly did not do anything wrong before that and I accept that. I did not do anything wrong at all but you seem to be suggesting that I made an offer to the seller after the auction had finished. Here for everyone to see is the evidence that I did not. You may or may not choose to believe me or indeed sell items to me in future but my conscience is clear.
  22. To quote the ad "Whether it's Whitesnake, Wham, Spandau or some ancient disc belonging to your dad, the USB Turntable can convert it." which are you using it for Pete? Seriously look good though
  23. Ged Parker replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I plan on bidding as I do with all auctions based on what it is worth to me so in the case of these records it will be 100% of that value
