  1. Either John Edge or Phil Threllfall has a copy thats for sale. It was John's then but Phil bought it or traded it and last time I saw Phil he had loads of good ones up for sale and I think this was in there. Good chance he'll be a Lowton tommorow.
  2. Hammy - all the best for a full recovery mate.
  3. All that is required for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing (or get off their high horses as you put it)
  4. Dunno about that Joe but in 1978 someone born in 1945 would have been 33.3
  5. Unfortunately not. The firms firewall prevents me downloading them to my works laptop. I am hearing now that the Underbeats were a forerunner to the James Walsh Gypsy Band? Sure someone can confirm or other wise.
  6. Just managed to pick up one of these. I know John has one on his site (Carl W's old copy) but can anyone give me some idea of it's history on the scene I can't remember hearing it out anywhere. I had it on an old sales tape from the early 80's (I think) but as is usual the list that went with the tape has long gone. I did well remembering the group name and wouldn't have done without seeing it for sale. One of those where you think 'I think I know that and think I remember liking it' usually when they actually arrive you remebered it because it was crap and you already have a copy . Thankfully not this time. Any info gratefully received.
  7. Steve you got mail
  8. Pearl Jones - Please Stay - WIG
  9. It may well be a sousan jobbie but Manship lists it in his price guide if that means anything
  10. I think it's a Virginia label. Theres also an Art Ainsley and the Echoes track (Is this the Best Way??) from memory so they may have been the house backing band?
  11. Does John know the seller then Simon?
  12. Check the feedback on this seller. Wouldn't touch this with a barge pole https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1
  13. the DC Magnatones or the Prophets - One Gold Piece please Santa
  14. I believe some of them did indeed end up on a list from Wales the route is a bit less clear.
  15. I'm sure the purpetrator will be unmasked eventually. I know Gaz has his views on the prime suspect(s).
  16. Lost for words! Mike can we find a way to pass on our thoughts to his family, just to let them know he was liked and respected on here. I'm sure Christmas will never be the same for them. Condolences from all in the Parker family.
  17. What about Mixed Feelings Sha la la? and the Procedures Give Me One More Chance? can't be many of these two around
  18. Mentor Sandy Moutain who ran Sinfonia in Blackpool many of us first got to use 'real' decks at 'the Big 528'. His boxes of imports at 9p were legendary. DJ wise Jon LeSaint at Lytham Football Club, then the Teanlowe Richard Searling - Without doubt the most influential DJ at the most influential venue at the height of the scene's "popularity". Pat Brady - For the simply ground breaking effect of the Chandlers (see they don't have to be 150 mph). Gaz Kellet - For introducing me to all those special unknown sounds that are so familiar now and many that are still not.
  19. Arctic is a good shout but I'd get more new records if I asked for Shrine Thelma would also be a worthy present
  20. Thats midlanders for you
  21. Ten to One was the biggest in its day. You Fooled Me wasn't as big but for me has better vocals and Everything You Always Wanted was bigger than You Fooled Me but not a good. There you got could I be any less clear
  22. Loads of stuff has been played on the scene that way less soulful than a lot of stuff on the AW album. It's not northern or rare but much of it is soulful. Lisa Stansfield isn't from the North as you put it she's from Lancashire
  23. You should get yourself in front of it then Dave may not be any less lonely but you can reach the keyboard more easily.
  24. If you don't know it check out the AB White track Dave has on ebay. For me this is one of the best 'cheapies' around at the moment.
  25. Lillie Bryant - Meet Me Halfway The Chandlers - Your Love Makes Me Lonely Al Williams - I Am Nothing
