  1. Clearly not in the Mellow Madness league or the Melvin Moore for that matter didn't know this came out on Mega though. Can't understand why I would have bought / traded it way back as it was way out of left field for my taste back then
  2. Just rediscovered a 7 inch that plays at 33 by the Dynamic Upsetters on Upsetters Records with a solid centre. 'Come on down' is the 'B' side but is the better on IMO the 'A' side 'Dance' is a catchy medley of various soul standards. I had forgotten the tune until I played it this morning. Thing is I can't remember when or where I bought this other than it is in a sleave with the details of Melvin Moore - All of a sudden / Tenessee written on in my writing. It's good but I can't believe I traded Melvin Moore for it which I had but haven't seen for years. Anyway not sure anyone is gonna own up to a trade like that but if it was you and you are reading this can we swap back other wise any info on this release appreciated.
  3. People in this office think I'm mad. I'm supposed to be writing a committee paper on the impact of the Gambling Act but this made me laugh out loud.
  4. I'm not sure the dancers did decide what was good and what wasn't. I used to hit the dancefloor on arrival and hardly be off it all night no matter what was played. I think the Riker Laboritories had more of an impact on what got danced to *coughs* for some people obviously not me
  5. Ahh mines yellow too its the second issue I'm affraid. One of those tunes that you say I'll pick up a first issue but when you see one there always something more enticing in the box.
  6. Pick of the list without a doubt sold my last one for £60 over 12 months ago.
  7. Was issued twice on Faderkat though and it doesn't say which this is. Great tune.
  8. Facebook replaced, mySpace and now Bebo has started to replace Facebook. The next big social networking phenomenon is due in about 3 months I think.
  9. Isn't It Time For An Alternative to Ebay? Yes it is? When I find it the last thing I will do is tell anyone on here . It could be like ebay was in ten+ years ago.
  10. Leaving the Scene.........?? My comment would be - if only he were How do you call a track a Northern Monster when is has never been played in any 'Northern' venue? I'm sure some will be taken in; not that I'm saying they are necessarily bad tracks the leaving scene one is quite pleasant but 'Northern' not IMO and 'Monster' definatley not. Why did he not release these just as soul they may then have found there way on to the decks at modern venues on their own merits.
  11. I'm with Dave here. I think the Soultown release is a legitimate West Coast issue as the other Soultown 'boots' Sweet Things etc do not have the West Coast matrix stamps. This is no different than the Younghearts - New Younghearts both being legitimate releases IMO. The different versions of LCBM is not real 'evidence' as there are many examples of boots not being the same as original tracks but the West Coast stamp is a much stronger indicator. If all the Soultown boots came from the same source surly they would all have the stamp yet this appears to be the only one that does in common with other legitimate west coast releases. Ohh and yes of course LCBM is the better side today IMHO.
  12. Can't scan it Chunky but I can confirm a it does exist. It's the standard yellow and black Brunswick. In a similar vein I'm wanting to replace my Brunswick demo of 'Hope We Have' that I snapped in two lifting a box off the top of the wardrobe. If anyone can oblige I'd be grateful.
  13. I couldn't agree more John, unfortunately though loads of people only like a certain style of 'soul'. I love it all and because I love most of the tracks most people love on the scene that doesn't mean that most of them will love most of what I love. I'm confussed now
  14. No you can't! You are a 'Northern Soul' fan and the two things are very very different IMHO
  15. Geoff, Dave Gillett is after a Metros since he heard Jumpin' Joan play the flip at Thornton.
  16. Not a lot I can say to help Sean other than I guess everyone on here is thinking about you and 'there but for the grace of god' etc. Good luck in gettoing things back to normal. Ged
  17. Not a descenting voice in the house Cheer up Steve, it could be worse Huddersfield could be getting a crook for an owner and a manager with all the charisma of a rock.
  18. Wouldn't pay that for a minter
  19. My last copy of Gwen Douglas went in a trade for a Diplomats -Cards On The Table Arock WDJ and a Silky Hargreaves - Hurt by Love D-Town. I had it at about £300 and guess the trade was worth about that. Dunno if that helps any
  20. Hurbert Hunter - I Was Born To Love You & Push Away From The Table Classic (Played out) oldie on one side - Storming (half decent) R&B on the other.
  21. As a collector, who only sells duplicates I'd make the following comment records are listed at different prices because they are worth different amounts to the person selling them. I rarely list items here or on ebay but often have a small box out with me for sales. If I take the box out and don't sell anything I don't care particularly. If I price something at say £50 I may sell it at £40 if offered that for it or I may just prefer to keep it sometimes it's nicer to have multiple copies of things than a few more quid in the bank. I've sometimes sold records at the prevailing going rate and regreated it because in hindsight they were worth more to me than the going rate some times I've done the reverse. I sold a spare of E. Lampkins - Music Turn Me Loose on here in response to a want being posted, I've never seen one for sale, most people don't know it, it's not listed in any price guide I let it go for £50 I don't regret that even though I've been offered many times that for my other copy since because to me it was worth £50. A record isn't just worth what someone will pay for it, it is also worth what the seller will not sell it below (at least to the seller). Dealer's are different to them it's stock and there little point in having dead stock lying around tying up cash that can be invested in other stock that will turnover more quickly.
  22. Liam, Heres a sure fire way to stop that embarrasing sweaty spray when you spin................ ....Put a bucket on your head . hope your well mate
  23. Ted, I wonder why you asking for a copy of this makes me think I better dig out my copy and play the flip
