James Lynn Marsh - Searchin For My Baby - Gay Shel....tune
Ged Parker replied to Realpeoplesmusic's topic in Look At Your Box
I often wonder how records like this find favour all of a sudden in different places with different DJ's. Even though rare copies seem to hit peoples playlist independantly around the same time. Reminds me of when I was playing the Sonics - Find Myself Another Girl as an unknown' only for me to hear it was being played in Germany at exactly the same time. The James Marsh always goes well with..................... .........well you'll just have to be at the Southport Weekender to find that out -
Please only email me on gparker@nussl.co.uk regarding any of these records I can pick up emails all the time rather than needing to be in here for PMs Postage £2:00 standard £5 recorded. Paypal prefered or cash at your own risk. Noted condition is visual, sound files and scans are of the actual records for sale what you hear is what you get. First up a fabulous Don Davis production for the Thelma off-shoot Ge Ge Fabulous Peps She's Gonna Leave You Ge Ge WOL VG £60 s Gonna Leave You GeGe.mp3 Staying at 6519 Grand River we have the main man himself Emanuel Laskey. There is some debate about the fist mix / issue of this record all I'll say is this is the 97699 mix without the crossings out. There's little between the two and for what its worth I think this is the first Emanuel Laskey Don't Lead Me On Baby Thelma VG+ £100 t Lead Me On Baby Thelma 97699 Mix.mp3 Still in Detroit but now the females have their turn; well one female actually Tobi Lark. Firstly the mellow sounds of Happiness is Here. Label looks a little dirty as you can see in the scan. Tobi Lark Happiness Is Here Topper VG+ £125 Tobi Lark Happiness Is Here Topper.mp3 Looking a lot better label wise but still with some v minor marks to the vinyl we have her notable RnB dance floor filler with the bonus of the superb Challenge My Love on the flip Tobi Lark Sweep It Out In The Shed Topper VG+ £450 HOLD Tobi Lark Sweep It Out In The Shed Topper.mp3 Garrison Records has given us some great tunes and this is no exception. Alan Bruce I Feel Better Garrison WDJ Ex £100 Alan Bruce I Feel Batter Garrison WLP.mp3 A little crossover piece of heaven next up from those guys who gave us Shadow Of A Memory. A lot less well known this quality 45 needs some one to champion it in those more accepting venues. 21st Century Every Little Heartache DOT WDJ VG+ £60 21st Century Every Little Heratache DOT WDJ.mp3 Curious one this next one that has had some attention in the last 12 months or so. From 1974 and out of Atlanta Ga comes Ebonystic. The few copies I got of this 45 all have the group name Ebonystic crossed out and replaced with 'Hearts of Fire' which the group were also known as. Ebonystic Ain't It Good To You Scream Ex £200 WOL SOLD t It Good Yo You Scream.mp3 Finaly we have the rarer format of the Communicators and Black Experiences Band out of Durham NC. This has been a play on the funk scene for some time but the flip is gaining some popularity now hense I've posted sound files for both sides. Communicators and Black Experiences Band Is It Funky Enough / One Chance Duplex Ex £70 Communicators and Black Experience Band One Chance Duplex.mp3 Communicators and Black Experience Is It Funky Enough Duplex.mp3 Again email please on these hope there's something you enjoy.

A man that will forever be synonymous with our music for everyone no matter how little they know or understand it. A full and productive life well lived . Condolences to all his family and friends who will hopefully find strength in the fact he touched som many lives in such a positive way. Rest in peace, live in the memory.

Ged Parker replied to Marktsoulman's topic in Record Sales
Are you all out to scupper this sale or something? Bad form guys. -
Jimmy Beaumont - You Got Too Much - Uk London (Ex)
Ged Parker replied to Pete S's topic in Record Sales
They're demos SImsy. Good value all the same -
I thought this was about you finishing in April 2013 at first. If you finished in April 2012 and prsumably got the letter before that why wait until September to post it on here? It was badly handled for sure, but what is it that you want to achieve here?
-
I have the 118 Demo which of course Jimmy Bishop in his infinate wisdom had pressed singled sided. Never seen an issue though
-
I can really get where you're coming from here John. Another dimension is that any advantage you gained in going to different venues and hearing new stuff is lost. Contacts are more easily made but that's for everyone and it is too simple. Records have also become much more costly since the web despite being easier to find and that is a paradox I can't get my head round.

Please only email me on gparker@nussl.co.uk regarding any of these records I can pick up emails all the time rather than needing to be in here for PMs Postage £2:00 standard £5 recorded. Paypal prefered or cash at your own risk. Sound files and scans of actual records what you see is what you get. 45s Ok first off a Texas rarity from the Dynamic stable looks VG but I'll let you be the judge of the sound quality. Can't remember when I last heard this one out and about. Doc and Sal - Cant Get You Offa My Mind - Dynamic £150 t Get You Offa My Mind Dynamic.mp3 Another obscure rarity. This superb blue eyed soul piece has always suffered from a shortage of copies. Apart from the felt tip around the title this is a super clean copy. Gary Wagner Blues Band - I Can't Go On Without you - Major Sound £150 t Go On Without You Major Sound.mp3 Here is a genuinely rare record first played at St Ives in the 70's and never really turned up in numbers since then. A contender for the rarest Laurie outing this copy is an ISSUE. Still I'm not sure its worthy of the £1,000 price tag one site had on it when you think of some of the superb records in that bracket so I'll take offers over £350. Gerard - Happiest Man - Laurie OFFERS >£350 Gerard Happiest Man Laurie.mp3 Here's one for you fans of obscure RnB. This LA recording came out on at least three different labels this is the one to own though. Gerri Reid - No Fool No More - Sla-Mon £50 Gerri Reid No Fool No More Sla-Mon.mp3 No need to introduce this one at all great crossover Joe Johnson - Do Unto Others - TEE £150 swol Joe Johnson Do Unto Others TEE.mp3 Another classic 'modern oldie' from the days of Morcambe Pier. Marva Hicks - Looking Over my Shoulder - Infinity £30 Marva Hicks Looking Over My Shoulder Infinity.mp3 Sticking with the modern but further back and much more obcure we have Phil Phillips; no not the American Idol winner or was it X-factor. Nevermind that this is simply fantastic Phil Phillips - It Takes More - Hard Boiled £100 Phil Phillips It Takes More Hard Boiled.mp3 Back to 60's and over to Detroit. The oh so desirable Thelma label in its most beautiful form the white demo. Rose Batiste's first release. Rose Batiste - I Can't Leave You - Thelma Ex £200 SOLD t Leave You Thelma WDJ.mp3 Staying in Detroit I've included sound files of both sides of this one and must point out visually it's only Good condition but the music is still strong. Have a listen to both sides which in any case are well worth a listen if you don't know it. Its not done the rounds being played out and about for ages. Shirley Lawson - Sad Sad Day - Enterprise £30 Shirley Lawson Sad Sad Day Enterprise.mp3 Shirley Lawson So Much To Me Enterprise.mp3 If you like underplayed oldies with superb vocals you could spend your money a lot less effectively that to buy this blind. Fortunately you don't have to as I've included a sound file. Comes with the ABC company sleave that it looks like it was put into in the pressing plant. Spindles - To Make You Mine - ABC Issue £50 Spindles To Make You Mine ABC Issue.mp3 'Top of the class' soul from the 'Top of the World' you devotees of Stafford classics will have this or have it on your wants list. Driving dancefloor soul at its best. Some slight discolouration to the vinyl and a bit in the label as you can see in the scan. 'kin' 'ard you bet it is. Willie McDougal - Don't Turn Away - Kinard £180 SOLD t Turn Away Kinard.mp3 Currently in vogue tune spotted in Soul Sam's box at the last Rugby. After being a colectors tune for a long time now surely its ready for a wider audience now. Willis Wooten - Your Love Is Indescribably Delicious - Virtue £120 slt storage warp NAP SOLD Willis Wooten Your Love is Indesribably Delicious Virtue.mp3 LP's An LP that actually was a one time promotional product for KFC in the Bahamas. It'd be as bad as a replacing a label with the photocopy and I suspect harder to do.
-
Yeah Dennis good to mmet up. We had met before when the Neighbourhood in Blackpool was going strong but I am easy to forget compared to Roly I think £300 would be the most I'g go to and it'd have to be perfect other than that. It would only be the 'Northern' crowd chasing it the serious British collectors as you well know would steer well clear of anything less than perfect.
-
Depends on the buyer and the item I guess. For me the JW; if otherwise in EX condition; would only be 25% of an intact one where as a Timi Yuro may be 50%. I realise in an auction I'd lose both probably but wouldn't want to pay any more
-
Not me you haven't
-
I missed on on Tim's list a few months back for £30.
-
Additionally promos weren't getting played at house parties in the 60's they were sat in wharehouses, DJ's and ex distributors collections and radio station libraries just gathering dust mostly.
-
I have no idea Just memory which is clearly faulty. I'm sure I said that more than once too
-
Jason will be well please with that.
-
What about something like Ace Spectrum - Don't send Nobody Else? Reached #4 in the pop chart in the Billboard 100. I'm not sure if it shipped 1/2 a million to go gold but probably did ship in the hundreds of thousands. Multiply that figure (if you can find it out) by £40 or so and thats a fair few quid
-
I'll bite just to help start a debate. Cashmeres - Showstopper. Loads more copies than the price would suggest.
-
Whoops I've Done It Again, Buying Multiple Copies
Ged Parker replied to Dean's topic in Look At Your Box
Bobby Angelle - Too Much For Me - Not sute how I forgot I had it but I did. Flight - Playing Your Games - Still got the spare if anyone is looking for one. Loads of less valuable ones too. -
Fair point Chalks. It does illustrate the difference in the mindset of the nighter crowd to (as someone once termed them) the muggles. A good record heard for the first time to one set of soul fans is an instant dancefloor classic and to the others its time to sit down. Mind you they'll dance to it now Nowt as strange as 'soulies'.
