Headphones For Djs
Pioneer HDJ1000's are superb. Order them from the states though no voltage problems and they're half the price.

Levi Stubbs Tribute
I too am sadened to hear Levi isn't well but wouldn't want to write him off just yet. I hope he is fully aware of the the pleasure his vocals have given us soul fans over in the UK as well as everywhere else, but if there is any doubt let him be assured his work will remain admired and a source of enjoyment long long after we have all passed away. Hope he gets well soon.

Foundatinos On Psycho
I know record prices are going down but £300, £200, £100, £80 I'd sell it quick Steve or you'll have to pay someone to take it in a few more posts.

Another Test Or Ss's Collective Knowledge
1959? That would mean they recorded as the Yum Yums after that and then reverted to Honey and the Bees some years later. Or maybe the Yum Yums was just the name assigned to the release as with the Wellingtons - Leroy and the Gallhads? The plot thickens

Another Test Or Ss's Collective Knowledge
Missed the Wizz referance on the label but as I say I've only had it read to me over the phone. It could be a different group but my contact got it from a James Wooten who I guessed could be a relative of Ann Wooten who was with the Yum Yums and Honey and the Bees. I did check Dave's site but as he only has one of the Academy releases in that discography thought it may not be complate.

Another Test Or Ss's Collective Knowledge
New York That would be an unexpected twist it looks nothing like the Vince Appollo I know that much but label designs changed all the time and this is coming from Philly so thought perhaps it was local.

Another Test Or Ss's Collective Knowledge
Cheers Dazz but that much I knew after all you have to trust that the seller can actually read the label . I guess I'm more concerned to find if there are millions of these around or if it's reasonably rare. Is it known on the scene? Is Petagon a Philly label? Was this the first (maybe only) release on the label? Is it actually the same group (though as I said I suspect it is).

Understand and agree just thought for a mo there that you meant the AGE release wasn't legit

"she's The One I Love"
I played the Delacardos on the Q-City release when Dean Parrish played in Blackpool a couple of years back. Guy Hennigan was following me and said he'd never seen one before. As a collector it's moments like that you remember

Another Test Or Ss's Collective Knowledge
Here's another puzzler for you lot. Anyone know of a Honey and The Bees release on Pentagon? Is it the same group? Mind you there aren't too many Wootens in Philly so must have come from a relative of Ann as a guess. And must be from late '65 early '66ish ie after the name change, and possibly either side of the two outings on Academy but before the Arctic releases which started in '66 It sounds good over the phone but can't find any info on it anywhere. Over to you As usual all info appreciated

Betty Boo -say It Isn't So
I collected all the Grapevine releases at the time and couldn't believe it when this was scheduled for release I think the word went out to dealers (though maybe it was rumour or assumption) that it would come out on Grapevine within a month of Richard first spinning it. I also heard at the time it was really called "Chitter Chatter" but would be released under it's 'cover-up' name of "Say it Isn't So" but again this could have been the rumour mill. Anyway it did come out as scheduled, around the 5th Anniversary I think, unlike some other planned releases which were shelved.

Jay Poole - I Love You - Mabel and Maestro and Company - I Love You - Love are the exect same song and take can't find any info on the release on the Love Label, other than Jason Perlmutter listing it on his carolinas soul site and guess this is much rarer. So Angry Is This The End Of An Allnighter Career?
If some one comes on here publicly critisises me I hope they get my name wrong is all I can say. Wouldn't stop me responding if I chose to either directly on the thread or via PM. The critisism whether fair or not was not put across in a constructive way and people who didn't attend weren't necessarily connecting Paul Metcalf with it but now they all are. I would have thought if people are going to complain they should have the sense to be clear about what (who) they are complaining about.

So Angry Is This The End Of An Allnighter Career?
Paul isn't new to event DJing and was promoting events 20 + years ago. He's someone I know rather than a freind of mine so I've no axe to grind here and he can speak for himself I'm sure but he has a wide taste in soul music as reading "on The Scene" will show. If anyone had asked him for a particular record (or for that matter a particular style of record) he'd have played it if he had it. It sounds like they didn't make any requests and thought that public critisism would work better.

I Know I Should Not Like It , But I Do
"Should not like" says who? I don't feel guilty about liking anything even some over played oldies. I just wish some of the were given a rest doesn't stop me liking them. By your premise are there also records its bad form not to like I wonder?
