  1. What this one............ https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...W:IT&ih=012 I didn't know it, does that mean you have a spare Marc?
  2. I had a very similar scenario once when DJing for Neil and Jayne at Bury I had in my box the Deletts - "Look At Me" which I love but had a request for the flip "What's the Use" which I like. As the requestee was a regular I obliged to find he was almost the only one that danced. Mind you it did get a better reaction than Dee Dee Barnes which I played in the same spot
  3. Needs to be a nice yellow demo for me Kev thanks anyway. Just looking to replace one I managed to snap in two a while back not in a rush.
  4. While people are offering up cheap Brunswick items does anyone have a demo of "Hope We Have" they are willing to let go?
  5. Was played at the last Preston Grasshoppers to a good reaction from the floor I've been told.
  6. Makes a change for me to win one it's usually another member on here that outsnipes me like he did a couple of hours before on the Johnny Dollar 45 which is much better than the JB one. Still can't win em all.
  7. I hope it does take off
  8. I've had both and both were on vinyl. The 'heartbreak' was demo though not sure how significant that is.
  9. It amazes me how people like Deon can be so relaxed about it all. To hear him say performing isn't in him much anymore is a little sad I think anyway a good read boba thanks.
  10. The Poppies - Pain In My Heart - Columbia - Poppy by name......................
  11. I don't think Dave Godin created a 'Brand' he just coigned a phrase that stuck. A brand is much more than a name, it has clearly identifiable values and traits. Unfortunatley others have sought to turn northern soul into a 'Brand' or a formulaic package that can be recognised where ever it is seen and it thoroughly consistent. I can remember working in 'New Concepts' when we developed the O'Neills Irish bar chain for Bass and we stricly controled the music policy because it was a key part of the 'brand'. Unfortunately 'Northern Soul' for some has been treated in the same way. It is this exploitation that has ruined the scene but has made a number of people quite wealthy.
  12. It's down to promotors to police. Any DJ can do it I have but never when I know the track has been played. When I'm on at a night I get there early and listen to whats being played. I have missed the odd one and duplicated later but I can only remember doing that once and that was recently. What's annoying is when DJ's arrive late and make no attempt to vary what they are going to play or even find out if stuff has been played before they arrived. There are few repeats at Middleton that's because Andy notices and tells the DJ's it's not on. He also tells DJ's off for playing too safe. Thats why Middleton is the success it is. There should be more promoters like that.
  13. Lots of people posting on here with the right attitude, but I would say we are the majority on Soul Source but the minority on the scene unfortunatley. I used to love Colin Murphy's do's and when we ran the Academy in Lytham Myself and Steve would always try to play things that were forgotten or new and interesting. There weren't enough wanting that as for some people it isn't about the music so much as the atmosphere. There was a thread on here a while ago asking whether people would prefer the social side of the scene without the music or the other way around and I was shocked how many chose the social side. I think you're right to stick to your guns, not sure I'd have used the mike though , but fairplay. I wish you loads of luck and may even try to get across one night. Ged
  14. If you're ever followed by Brian Waklin, he doesn't ask he just takes his chance as soon as you turn away to select a record he's in like Flynn doesn't matter how early it is. You turn back to find a his first record cued up and him with the mike in his hand. Mind you I bet you had to learn to be quick when Tony Jebb was at his hieght he never let a record play all the way through maybe that's why Brian is that way. I'm quite sanquine about it really though I usually get a feel for what record I'll play to finish with during my set and it is nice to get that one in. PS Messers Rivers and Cunliffe don't take that as a signal of weakness for this Friday
  15. There's one in sales up for offers.
  16. plus another £1000 is that gentle enough for you
  17. Only £500 Mel
  18. That's a good start Ady thanks. If it's an Alabama release I know just who to go to. I'd forgotten about the Lonnie Robinson I've seen them obviously but never owned one. It's fairly common and not so expensive either. Food for thought and a couple of phone calls. Thanks for the lead. Ged
  19. Can anyone even confirm the 'real' artist? Or are the title, artist and label all "sunshine movement"? I may have to take the plunge based on hearing it over the phone but just know if I do there'll be loads of em about and you lot will be telling me it's worth $5.
  20. Price and availability of this please Can't find one anywhere unless you lot can point one out that is. Ged
  21. Can't believe we had 23 posts before Andy Rix got a mention. Tim Brown for sure is up there. What about Cliff Camfield? You don't build a collection like that without a great deal of knowledge. I can't even remember what records I've already got keep buying them again
  22. Hard one to track down and you'll be looking at £1,000 + at a guess.
  23. Don't you mean 'Can't Stop Loving My Baby' should be an easy one to get hold of
  24. John you know British demos are worth five times what a British issue is. You also know John Manship gets about 150% of the value for most of his auctions, add to that $ to £ exchange rate and my maths mean I'll swap for a US issue see you in the bar at Prestatyn
