  1. Rod, Yes Sean was a regular at Bury and I found him a nice enough guy. He needn't ask on here he could just ask his dad if he wanted to be sure (I'd not be suprised if some of these records were his dads). The vague descriptions are never present on original records when he lists them if it was a lack of knowledge he'd get the odd original wrong too. As I say I believe he knows what he's doing but as others have said the buyers should so their research we all know what a minefield record buying can be when you have the record in your hand let alone on ebay. 2. This seller is younger than many of us but I do believe he knows exactly what's what regarding originals and boots and knows what he is doing and the impact it will have on the selling price of his records. It's bad form but a case of 'caveat emptor' I'm afraid. Oh and why the cloak and dagger about who it is - It's Sean Livesey obviously.
  3. To be honest I'd rather back myself in an actual dick swinging contest, more chance of being in the top 100,000.
  4. Russ started playing them..................................... .....................about 7:53 a.m. I've no idea they were well established before I started going. As Mick said Gerri Grainger followed as an extra one in the last four. It was on / after the 5th anniversary where the Casino Clasics release of Gerri Grainger was given away as a freebee.
  5. It'll have been a hell of a lot more than their "I Won't Be Hurt" which for me is very similar and just as good. PS I have a spare IWBH if anyone wants to do a direct swap
  6. Sounds like 'Grumpy Soul' to me cept it finished at 4am. Mind you some nighters are thinning out by then anyway.
  7. Great two sider Tony Looking for a better one myself as mine plays but has a stress crack round the label.
  8. I think if I was parting with $18,000 for a 45 I'd be flying over to collect it. I certainly wouldn't be leavingit for someone else to decide on the best form (cheapest if they're paying) of postage to get it to me
  9. I knew I shouldn't have got into this If its in your box you should be prepared to play it. If you know the venue and what the promotor wants the contents of your box will be appropriate. If they'll dance to anything well that's great
  10. Definately sold into record shops by the 'Columbia' rep whn they first hit the market.
  11. I can't believe I'm even answering this. Sometimes people walk up to the stage and ask for things they want to hear (I think they're called requests) Other times you will notice that there are some types of record that people dance to and others that they don't (If you're clever you pick up the clues)
  12. Its another case of a starting price being used as marketing tool I believe.
  13. It's not your fault he essentially ruined your sales to the tune of hundreds of £££'s. People should do this with impunity. We've all wanted stuff we can't afford and in my case after wanting something for years and years it will come up when I have no spare cash. Wouldn;t dream of agreeing to buy something and then not doing.
  14. It is just beyond my comprehension why people do that. Put em up for sale once more, name and shame for me.
  15. Why do you say "I'm afraid". If that's what they want then give it to them surely? It may not be your cup of tea but as I say every record has a time and a place, and DJ's should recognise that. I'd also like dancers to recognise that even if I don't dance all night I've paid as much to get in as them so my opinion counts just as much. It was actually at an all-dayer not an 'Oldies Night' and a real mixed crowd, first event at the venue I believe so no past reputation to go on when packing his DJ box I'm sure. Thing is Carl had the intellegence and emotional security to firstly have it in his box and secondly to play it when it was requested. I'm sure its not in Carl's top 1,000 records and yes its a bit passe but at that moment in that venue it worked a treat.
  16. Really Pete? You learn something every day.
  17. Almost on the scale of the "Jackie Wilson" "Jockey Wilson" slip up on TOTPs
  18. Time and place; its all about the time and the place. I've seen Carl Willingham fill a dance floor with 'The Snake'. You can be as 'progressive' as you like but you have to give them at least some of what they want on any given day.
  19. I've always taken it to mean the first one in the list but tempered this with the knowledge of the record in question, other people differing interpretations of the term and the willingness of some seller to be pess than transparent with their descriptions.
  20. Jealous as f**k here . If I'd have got them so cheap I couldn't have brought myself to sell any of them I don't think. Buying something very very cheap off someone who doesn't know what its worth for the pleasure of owning it is one thing but buying the same thing to sell would feel very different to me, maybe that's just me though. Anyway as I say very jealous here. Theres nothing like turning up that suprise treasure after much fruitless searching.
  21. About the best one I have I think.
  22. Sad news indeed. His rendition of Forgotten Man is just superb and rarely far from my deck at home.
  23. Perhaps a description of the variant of the Hi lable would narrow it down. Majik is of course on the later design.
  24. too many nights and all too cheap IMHO.
  25. No Ken same song and lable different groups I have both (and the Vogues Spanish EP with True Lovers on). The Vogues is a good version too though.
