When I Wore A Lad A Lived In A Schweppes Box
A bruised orange you were lucky! One year my dad got me 'hide and seek' for my birthday. Seriously though that's a Canada Dry Fruit Juice crate not a Schweppes one. I moved enough of them as child labour in my dad's pubs Maybe all that 'bottling up' is why all the tins in our cupboards have the labels at the front and all my records are in their sleeves straight,

Don't you mean 79 Pete?

Is This A Willie Tee Autograph?
Not sure about the autograph but what a tune Sweet Thing is. Absolutly superb not 'Northern' by any manner of means but superb all the same.

The First "beat Ballad"
How about Garnett Mimms - It Was Easier To Hurt Her. That was played as a new release in 1965 well before the term Beat Ballad (or rare / northern soul) was even coigned by Guy H.

Ever Given Up Soul?
Rarely feel like "what am I doing here" and still often travel to venues on my own. I did a local night and a nighter on Sat. I did use to go out to at least one venue every Friday and Saturday. Work sometimes gets in the way on a Friday but even when it doesn't I'm selective about where I go. I'm more likely to consider giving up DJing than nights out but thats usually because I hear a superb spot and think "I'd love to be that good" but that usually ends up firing me up to search out new and exciting things to play. If it came to a choice between collecting or going out though (which I hope it never does) collecting would win.

Just A Thought....about What 'soul' Is Or Isn't
Chalks: These Memories - Almeta Lattimore vs Odyssey If you're Looking For A Way Out. Both soulful to me (in fact I have both). Just Odyssey is tarred with the 'disco' brush I guess.

Richard Caiton - I Like To Get Near You

Al Gardner - Sweet Baby - Has A Box Turned Up?
This is very close to what I've been told be someone who was around back then. Apparently a cheque for a small amount was sent to whoever was a known contact on the record. Nothing else just a cheque in an envelope. As soon as it was cashed (probably with the person having no idea what it was for) the record was pressed. This would give the record label some cover if they were ever accused of bootlegging. If you think about some of the sharp practice we know went on in the US why would the UK; or France for that matter; be any different. I agree with Joan. Sepia only for me.

Paranoid Usa Dealer
Given the auction is in dollars I'm sure he'll try and charge dollars to whoever buys it without noticing the small print. Imagine the money someone like Craig Moerer would have on deposit if he did something like this. Could be a nice earner

Paranoid Usa Dealer
I realise that Keith but what you paid is what you paid. If I was bidding against you I'd have included the fact of the postage considering my bid. If the postage was 9 dollars I would have bid $20 more. So you may not have won it in those circumstances. Do as Bob advises put in a paypal claim, report him to ebay and give him a load of 1 stars in the feedback.

Paranoid Usa Dealer
I have to say if the postage is stated up front I just consider it as part of the price i.e. as if the opening bid was $29 higher and bid accordingly. This one though is a very different matter and a worrying development. Check the small print in red at the bottom of the listing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yvonne-Violets-Cross-My-Heart-VG-Extremely-Rare-Barry-Records-/290668348593?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item43ad2f04b1 He previously had it listed with the same small print but a lower starting price and go no bids so for some reason keeps the small print and put the start price up. Crackpot

Flip on mine is "take another chance" or similar and can't recall seeing a different flip around. Not sure how helpful that is.

Fear Ive Been Ripped Off ...name & Shame
Chris Geddes - Met them all around the turn of the century at the Union at Strathclyde Uni. He licked some late 60's stuff and lots of 70's but we agreed on the divisions between different genre's of music being a bad thing he advocates mixing it all in ift goo enough. EDIT: JUst realised how far OT this is now appologies feel free to delete.
