    Arrived later than first planned with Sid and Bernadette Jones, Tony Livesey and Billy Mailey in tow. The back seat drivers couldn't agree on directions even down to left or right at a three lane junction. We got there though. As was to be expected the music was varied and for the most part from the back of peoples boxes. The floor was kept busy most of the night with records worth from £25 to £X,000. Some hours were split with the DJ doing 30 minutes each and other doing the hard task of alternating and still keeping a set flowing musically. It was a pleasure double decking with Sid and the Virtue acetate he played was mega and new to almost everyone. (Paul would have liked that). It was a laugh too, collectively managing to discuss records with people and trying to guess what they were trying to remember from clues like "You know the one I mean its on a blue lable" or "Its on the flip to that one Soul Sam used to play". The only thing missing was Paul's razor sharp whit and dry humour. It was an honour to play a few and certainly a first for me to be paid in bath bombs.

    Glamp Rd Records is delighted to present its eagerly anticipated first release; ‘Feel Alright’ by Jon Allen and The Skinner Brothers. After being played as 'The UD Toronadoes'; the fictional rivals to the TSU Toronadoes (University of Dallas rather than Texas State University); interest was such that finding the real vocalist became a mission. Having located the writers and through them the rights owners of the tracks negotiations began on bringing the track to vinyl as well as work on a new label to carry the 45. Glamp Rd has a philosophy of releasing tracks that have never been seen on vinyl and presenting them in the traditional British format. This its alongside ensuring the rights owners are duly rewarded for their efforts and collectors are presented with a value for money package that is sure to appreciate in value. Fully licensed and available in a limited release of 300 individually numbered 45s, this 45 sets a trail for releases to follow. Pre-release demand has been high and this first and only press is set to instantly be a collector’s piece as well as a dancefloor winner. This collaboration between Jon Allen and The Skinner Brothers (Adam and Dan) appears here for the first time on vinyl. Its firmly in the mould of the Texan style soul of Archie Bell or the TSU Toronadoes. Adam and Dan Skinner are accomplished multi-instrumentalist that both graduated from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Their work has been featured in original programming on TV channels around the globe. Working on scores for feature length and short films, they have honed their skills in their fully equipped central London recording studio. Their work spans the spectrum of musical styles from indie to world music taking in rock, soul, blues and jazz along the way. Drawing on this rich palette and they work as performers and producers alongside some of the finest musicians from the English Session Orchestra, RSVP Choir and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. All these elements come together here in a superb track from their digital album ‘Soul Rewired’. ‘Feel Alright’ is coupled with the equally dancefloor friendly instrumental version that has never been publicly available until now. There are no 'pre-orders' or 'pre-payment' options and the release is only available direct from www.glamprd.com.     Time and place. Values were much lower back then and supply of mint and mint- records was plentiful. Now its hard to find minters of even some common titles.

    By definition an auction price is the price only one person was prepared to pay. If you see some of the eBay items with 30+ people watching them how can the finish price of that be any guide to its value if only 1 in 30 thought it was worth that. Its all a bit mad really.

    Gary Rushbrooke early 80's. It may have been around on tapes before that but I hadn't heard it before then. I'm not sure it's ever been away since has it? The boot caught a few people out when it appeared it was so close to an original.

    You'll get a better response for the other side in my view. It's been getting few plays for a while now. Not heard anyone else play "I Need Your Lovin'" out and about for years.

    Why do we need to label everything? If its good and fits in to a set who cares when it was recorded and or discovered. And as for the age of a DJ, why is that even an issue, they're only putting records on, I let my 5 year old granddaughter do it, its easy honest.

    My current account is from 2005 but I certainly around well before that with an account (possibly "deancourtney") which was also my eBay ID at the time. not a good idea I know lol. I'm around less and less lately unfortunately.

    If you play records in to a paying audience you're a DJ. Whether you're the right DJ for the audience, or even a competent DJ at all, is a different question.

    It was the bottom record in a pile I grabbed. I only had hold of the bottom one on one side and as I moved it I caught it on the edge of the table and snap it went. The pile was stuff that never gets in my play box so I thought it would be a cheapy, sadly not.
