  1. Willie Tee worth it just for that, fabulous track.
  2. Don't expect to hear the Debonaires played out these days, great track.Prefer J.T.Rhythmn(James Thorpe)version of"my sweet baby"though, shouldn't be too fussy though, still a good version to play.
  3. Great track, almost the same as tomorrow's men"who's that lady"same backing as El Anthony"we've been in love too long"..connections eh?
  4. Great venue for Manchester at that time, once a month you could do Saturday at Wigan, hang around Manchester till noon, then do the all dayer.Strange when you think now that it was the norm for attendances to be 1000 plus in those days.
  5. Flip it over when it arrives!
  6. Wasn't that label a source of cheap alternative versions of the big sounds of the day?,ie Trieste"I can see him making love to you",inferior take on the Anderson bros.Dont know who was behind it though.
  7. Seems to be a case of rarity over quality to me,not a patch on Tony Hestor, vocal nowhere near as soulful.
  8. Artistics"girl I need you",fabulous track, must have sounded years ahead of its time on its release.
  9. I went to see my doctor the other day he said I was paranoid, well he didn't actually say it but I could tell that was what the bastard was thinking!
  10. Agree its a great track, needs cueing in somewhat though..that intro!
  11. Fast forward 40 years, and the lead singer with"a flock of seagulls"revived that hair do..or hair don't in this case!
  12. Not northern, but Stevie Wonder"just enough to ease the pain"fabulous ballad as good as anything he did(on you tube)whilst there check Little Milton"give me this chance",obviously not Motown but any chance to promote these tracks..you know how it is!
  13. Black pudding Bertha wasn't really the queen of northern soul, she was a professional arm wrestler but the Goodies didn't think it right for their 70's chart smash.
  14. Alex Jones has one, you're right though,no one plays it,not such a bad thing though sometimes.I think its one of those"not for everyone"45's a la Paul Kelly"the upset".
  15. Oh by the way,Spencers 40" soul bags were only ever 39",I really will get me coat..ooh me back!
  16. I think Mel Torme was married to Thora Hirds daughter..I'll get my coat!
  17. Flanny, always remember,no matter how many holy grail tracks the big money guys play, they never sound as good as when played by guys like yourself who have the history. No matter where you are, there's always a small percentage in the club who think that way.As for myself,my soul education beyond 1969 was shaped at the Orwell"where soul lives"great logo..and how true it was, best wishes from me & Eileen.
  18. How can you have an authentic celebration of that great club when the music that featured at that time will be played in the lesser of the two rooms?
  19. Blimey Martin! Kill everybody off right away why dontcha! Mongo Santamaria?..what about the warm up?
  20. You need to get out more young man!
  21. Joe Simon"drowning in the sea of love",Four tops"do what you gotta do"good call that,a Jim Webb song, and that guy wrote some stunners,Sinatra said Webb's"by the time I get to Phoenix"was the best song ever written..some compliment that!
  22. Check him out on the"who sampled"website, tells you who's covered and sampled his work,a great way of hearing new music.
  23. Mrs T asked me to suggest a track for her facebook page on new years eve,"this year"by Curtis popped into my head,a hidden gem if ever there was one..inspirational.
  24. After not hearing for years,it was Flanny who played it at the now sadly defunct"Orwell"early sessions(how we miss it),lots of ears pricked up that night.
  25. What a great track, the best way to spend £5.00 many moons ago.The original beatin rhythmm had loads at that price, always thought Brownie had slipped up! Hindsight eh?
