sad to say lol i visited a little soul chat room fingy...and myself and certain others met with mr " mines bigger than yours "...we spent a good half hour making up artists and songs...to which he replied invariably..." oh yer got the demo and the issue " all of course made up completely... but when faced with....ducky and the glowlighters he said..."you're making that up....pmsfl the only real record of the whole convo cookie

any git in the street cud probs fling a good set together from cd's...wot gets my goat is people who have genuine ORIGINAL vinyl going on after twits who have just played half of thier own set on cd/bootleg...us collectors take the time to search out and find those lil bits of vinyl...and for me its original format or dont fookin bother...i played out earlier this year at a venue where the promoter thought he was tony blackburn shouting encouragement at the crowd ( 25 peeps )....4 fookin times i heard jimmy mack...on cd ...its not acceptable...wotever it says on the flyer.... cookie -

prezactly just wanted to add mind you...im not old enough to have gone to wigan..my older brothers went and they were key to getting me into soul music....but i was soulfully dragged up by the likes of yate..stafford and of course the 100 club...these places thrived on new sounds and were heaving cos even back in the early 80's people were fed up with hearing the same ole same ole every week..... cookie -

i had a non soulie friend round for the evening.....we had a few sherberts then she asked if i would play some vinyl...having been to a soul nite with me before i agreed...altho i dont often play my vinyl when i am slightly shall we say wobbly??....so i hauled a box out and dusted it off and proceeded to play a few old fings....some of them seemed pretty naff to me ....but i listened with new ears as my friend exclaimed....its like no other music i have ever heard....another convert do you think or are we just plain weird???? discuss.... cookie

not me but my mate jason starr found a copy of lareine la mar - thats not the way to love on cloud for £2 in bristol in amongst all sorts of tat in a record shop...took him 4 hours searching through dross...he charged me £150 fer it....but it was money well spent as it went to another person for £300 in trades....hows that for inflation???...and indeed what was it doing with the U2 and smiths singles???... i like that record fairy theory.... cookie
