Floors getting a polishing this week. We're all going to ensure our records are clear, shiny and clean

I ended up with long covid last march, before that I was a competitive triathlete. I used to cycle to work and back as a base then fitted in running and swimming on days off. After about 6 months of the inability to do exercise as I did,I found open water swimming a reprieve to what I was going through, although the 'soul scene ' also helped my progress. I decided to retire from work September, still struggling but the open water swimming and socialising on the soul scene definitely helped me cope. Come Xmas I resumed cycling, then took on a part time job February. The job is more manual than anything, which is helping the body conditioning. I now cycle the 6 miles there and back,4 days a week,I do steady runs through the woods of about 5 miles 2 to 3 times a week and still swim open water 2 to 4 times a week. I still regularly attend soul events, dancing a lot. Mentally working on the adage, one life, live it,and I do. I'm hoping to compete in a triathlon September,Subject to maintaining consistency, which in my opinion,is key to any program.

Eccleshill mechanics is a building that is run by volunteers,as a registered charity,to ensure the local community have a functional meeting place. We are honoured to be given the opportunity to present an event here, That has one of the best dance floors around. Good parking and well stocked bar. Great sound system. Dj's Steve Ridealgh Kev Kellett Ade Rushworth and this months guest,Eddie Burnside. The music presented represents some of the best Northern records ever released, collected and played for you, by the guys who have each 45+ years on the scene . Any problems, questions or queries please don't hesitate in contacting. Regards Ade.

Thank you a for the responses. We are all, without doubt, sadly getting older and mobility issues do play a big part. Moving forward is accommodating everybody. I spoke to a disabled soulie. The only time they can actually get out from the 4 walls of home and mentally escape is by attendance at a soul venue, musically transporting themselves to a time when life was better and illness and mobility wasn't an issue. Which let's face it,most of us do escape for those few hours. The bonus is of course seeing old mates. Sadly, some disabled soulies dare not approach the dance floor, worried of colliding into a dancer, running over a foot or receiving disapproval from attendees. Sadly disability could happen to any of us.

Out of curiosity. More from a legal standpoint. What's your thoughts on mobility scooters upon the dance floor? They seem to be appearing more and more at venues. In particular a packed one? Wondering if one ran over your foot, crashed into a dancers leg or someone fell onto the user would the organisers be liable? How do you think they should be accommodated?

Enjoying a full all-nighter without gear is it possible?
Geronimo replied to Hooker1951's topic in All About the SOUL
I did gear just about every niter in the 70s and early 80s,which involved most weekends. Later job and family responsibilities took over. To clean myself up I started to take care of myself better, with exercise and decent food, more as an example to my kids. I still love the scene and more importantly the records just as much. I like to get out most weekends. Good clubs that aren't niters playing the right music i seek, fortunately are still about. Although I still find niters tend to play music more to my liking. I still don't do drugs but must admit to pro plus my choice to get me through the hours. -

Once again a terrific night. The music is always top drawer, that's why we keep returning. Cracking sets by all dj's, hate to see the lads bank statements, as there really was some rare ultra magnificent music played. Yes it clashed with a big important event(we went to it before tiffs) This is something every event organiser has to face. One thing Tiffany's always seems to deliver upon is QUALITY, Well done dave
