Summer at last! Have loved this since I first heard it 25 odd yrs ago.. Futures - Ain't no time fa nothing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x060QDYma5Q&feature=related

Just had this through the door today...SUPERB! Keep 'em coming please

Yes I watched most of this and was good to learn some new things + see and hear the Violinaires in particular + older gospel clips & Earth Wind & Fire footage. Actually quite enjoyed hearing what the young choir lads had to say in the UK as whilst not my cup of tea in terms of listening to that, they sure are devoted and committed too. Was interesting to hear Eddie Holman say confidently that he's one of the greatest falsetto's of all time! I was half hoping that someone "current" like JC Brooks would get a brief interview as I think his voice is amazing on the recentish cover of the Kaldirons track..To love someone (that don't love you), as well as other releases. Cheers, Steve. PS...I tried to see if I have a falsetto range and the answer is firmly not. I think I woke half the neighbours up in the process and half scared myself

Thanks Charlie..Likewise. Was all a bit calmer since I last popped over in Feb (well, sort of!) . Tabs sure likes TUC biscuits hey Thanks again to Nick & Mel for usual madness. Was long journey back (my fault as took wrong turn... again...almost as bad as Coventry getting in and out of that place I reckon ) but Brian really enjoyed it and will be back again I'm sure. So he should be with the records and knowledge he has. Will badger him for a play list on here hopefully next few days. Cheers all. Steve

He sure does and I hope it will be a great night as usual. Snacks and things raided from the kids food cupboard whilst they're out just now, beers to pick up on the way, Brian & his records to pick up on the way....See you there
-
Haha..Sorry. Was doing something else for a mo! It's Brian Goucher (of Soul Essence and various other events home and away!). Should be very interesting if his show on Solar the other Sunday morn was anything to go by + from the records I've been lucky enough to hear him play locally Oops..am I allowed to quote another radio show on here We look forward to seeing you in the pub sometime soon after 7pm and spending the evening in the company of the "usual suspects" (and maybe more besides hopefully!). Cheers, Steve

So am I allowed to say who it is then Mel?!
-
I quite like this one that Barbara did with The Futures (nice pic sleeve too!)...MAKE IT LAST Also still like hearing AINT GOT NOBODY amongst others (finger clickin' good!)
-
Both sides of this just superb IMO (thanks again to Len for introducing me to it last Spring, selling me his copy then realising he'd sold a peach of a record so immediately replaced it with lovely pink demo ). Fair price here I think. Enjoy, whoever buys it

I think amazing timeless music, good social banter and dancing + always having something to look forward to in terms of the next event & hearing new sounds alongside known ones have got to be good for the body & soul Winnie. I think the problem for many could be the wrong type of fuel, if you know what I mean + not enough decent kip....oh, and maybe wearing REALLY old shoes On another note, does it get easier or harder to spin about without getting dizzy as you get older? I think harder and I can't spin for toffee anyway, but then I see some of the old un's spinning like mad and not falling over and just wondered Steve

Thanks Garv. I've tried a few things including turning this off and on again, but still won't let me in. Maybe I'm banned! Hope you're well anyway and that it's a good show. Cheers, Steve

OK thanks....I'll go and watch Russia v Poland for a bit then try again later.

Dean Andersons Radio Show- Gilly As Guest
Scotters replied to Dennisoul's topic in All About the SOUL
Really enjoyed listening to this Weds night (was fine listening through itunes rather than the radio stream window). A real education for me for sure. Thanks again to Len for letting me know about it. Class soul / great stories. Loved hearing some alternative mixes of various records. Different gravy. Dean did mention on air about posting the show on here at some point, so I'm sure if enough people badger him he'll do just that. Steve -
Thanks for the link...I hadn't seen that thread. Bound to be lots of repeats on this one then...but hopefully some new stuff too. Also, the refosoul links don't work on that one, which is a shame. Anyway, here's another to hopefully keep things going on this one (I'm still trying to get my hands on this original Alice Clark LP if anyone has one for sale?!)... All the best, Steve.
-
Guessing we can open this thread up to some recent(ish) soul too? In which case here's one from last year that sees Betty Wright still in top form I think...
-
Thanks for clarifying Pete. Great photo of her on the LP though hey. I wonder what she's listening to with her hands over her ears?!
-
Great thread and some great LP's to be collected and discovered I think. I Just love some of the cover photos / art works too! Some of my current faves, first few of which I'm playing out in a few early spots locally: Archie Bell & the Drells - "When you left heartache began" (Tighten Up LP 1968). I also love the version of "A Thousand Wonders" which TSU Toronados also recorded for this LP, which I think was a B side to the Spanish only issue of Tighten Up 45 and different tempo to their Ovide issue 45 (much cheaper too on this LP!). Willie Hutch - "Lucky to be loved by you" (Soul Portrait LP 1969)..Great LP. Gloria Scott - "A case of too much love making" (What am I gonna do LP 1974)...I think this did actually get a 45 release in Canada? Criminal that this was her only LP as Barry White was apparently too busy on his own work at the time. Ronnie Dyson - "I want to be where you are" (Love in all flavors LP 1977) 5 Stairsteps & Cubie - "I'm the one who loves you" (Loves Happening LP)...Great alternative version of the Impressions 45 I think. Willie Hutch - "Hurt so bad"...great version I think / "Let's try it over again" (Season for Love LP 1970) Curtis Mayfield - "No thing on me" (Super Fly Motion Pic LP 1972). Cheers, Steve

After just getting roped into joining in playing "Just Dance 3" or whatever it was on the Wii for the first time with my young kids tonight, there's NO WAY I'm EVER giving up soul. The whole experience hurt my ears and my body (was quite funny mind!)

"Wax on..Wax off" is I think one of the first tasks you gave me when I met you just under a couple of years ago Len. I'll update it back to you and others like us with family and other commitments.."Weekend on...Weekend off" There's the balance I think, which I'm still sort of trying to find myself after you got me on this merry-go-round of a wonderful yet time consuming thing. Steve

So sorry for your further loss Nick, I hope we can all do our bit to lift you up on Tuesday night and I'm sure that Mel plus all close family and friends will be there for you when you need them. Steve.
