  1. Have really enjoyed re-listening to the Lp in its entirety this last few weeks as a result of this thread...never forgot about it, just hardly enough time in the day/night to just sit and properly listen to a whole LP without distraction or trying to do something else at the same time. Cd in the car or music in in background just not the same sometimes is it. Anyway, thought I had both 45s too but turned out completely missed picking up her first release on Rainy Day, so thanks to Jason at Soulstacks today now thankfully this is on its way and I can enjoy this masterpiece on the record player soon too... Alice Clark - Say you'll never (never leave me)
  2. Remembered reading this a couple of years ago, article by Andy Dyson on what looks to be the rarest of all three "A thousand years too late". I'd love to hear it sometime hopefully. https://www.souldiscovery.co.uk/andy-dyson
  3. Would be really interesting to know if there was ever enough material for an album, if so what happened to the tapes if never released? as it does say on the 45 "from album Breakthrough". Any stories of the group or photos in existence too I wonder? Good luck Glyn or anyone else who manages to find out. That would be something. Sadly it seems that true rarity and growing demand for both sides of this particular 45 likely to see price of a mint one well out of reach for many of us, should one exist and ever go up for auction anywhere

  6. Well done Chalky! Would be brilliant to learn more of how Alice started singing and then progressed to the LP, what happened next with her seemingly short lived career and dare I say whether there is any unreleased material lurking to be discovered...perhaps acquired and properly licensed so that her family might get some funding to continue her music legacy and memory in some way.
  7. I wonder if it's any coincidence that Alice Clark looks somewhat melancholy in the photos on her LP, the same with say Gloria Scott and Alex Brown looking equally blue on the cover of theirs..just another two examples of an outstanding LP and couple 45s each, then nothing, albeit for reasons better documented in those cases I think. Such a shame and maybe no idea there's still people like us listening to their limited work and still getting so much pleasure each time.
  8. A good few of us found ourselves in another place, hearing this & other things like it in Mick n Mo's spot at Lenny's a month ago. Just haunting...and lovely...the record I mean Ps I think I spotted one for set-sale for about £750 somewhere a few weeks back, but can't remember where, so maybe someone somewhere has paid that sort of price recently?
  9. Looking for a good (VG+or better) copy of this 45 please on Selma. Anyone out these bored of theirs and wants to see it go to a good home then please PM me. Many thanks, Steve
  10. Lamps shining from behind the decks so DJs can see what they're doing, annoying when they point out to the dance floor. Record dealers with lamps shining on their sales boxes and annoying when they point out to the dance floor. Some people using those star-bright lights on their phones or other devices when recording for whatever reason. Camera flashes where I cant then see anything for a good few minutes. Bars with heaven knows how many lights on them, over them, behind them. Fire exit lights, streetlamps outside, cars passing the windows with their light on. ...arggghhh I'm such a Soul Mole! Sorry I feel better now and staying in tonight with all the lights off.
  11. Not sure if you found the Monophonics track but might have been "Too Long" from their new album available now digitally and on vinyl from this July. Here's link to the track on Bandcamp where you can also hear the whole album and just buy individual tracks on MP3 if you don't want the whole thing. https://monophonics.bandcamp.com/track/too-long Real interesting band/album I think and "Promises" was released on a 45 by Colemine back in January, ahead of the album.
  12. Still enjoying both sides of this release from last year but particularly the A side. Hope they do an album or at least another single or two, certainly doing a good few gigs in the States by the look of their FB page, covers or otherwise. Also radio interview here from last year on Bandcamp and very decent guest playlist they chose that day too, worth a listen.....links here to both https://kusforg.bandcamp.com/track/interview-gene-washington-the-ironsides https://kusforg.bandcamp.com/track/guest-mix-gene-washington-the-ironsides
  13. REALLY looking forward to Saun & Starr's debut album this month (19th May I believe) and both sides of the "Look Closer" 45 have been getting played loads recently. Great official video here just out to promote the title track and album release

It sounded brilliant played on a big system in the back of a pub a few months ago, the first record I chose that night and had some interest....but like most things, not for big rooms or for dancers and certainly not for covering up or trying to sell for more than twenty quid.
  15. Thanks Chris, what a record...they all sounded more than great from where I was standing. Thanks again to you and your Wife (and greyhound!) for travelling all the way over and back from the coast...a good few of the local soul fans around here don't yet know what they're missing
  16. Careful boss...that does sound a bit dodgy, especially after Len "introduced us" a few years ago....my missus did wonder for a while, probably still does I daren't tell her you had lava lamps going at this latest night!

Yes a Jewel of a track but not rare to my knowledge, or I got lucky a couple of years ago two for ten dollars eBay, gave one away
  18. Listening to a few of these tracks nice and loud in the car today, from recent album by The Mighty Mocambos https://mocamborecords.bandcamp.com/track/not-get-caught-feat-derobert https://mocamborecords.bandcamp.com/track/in-the-dark-feat-nichola-richards In the spirit if this thread, Decent video to the album title track too!...
  19. Thanks Dave yes remembered this time and sounded great in that room. Another great Soul Junction release and look forward to whatever's next. Will be playing the other side next time too. We did play "take me back" here last year as an MP3, but great to now have it on a 45 with better sound quality. Blimey yes what an LP that is by Solid Solution and much respect to all those who were involved in it. Real shame there was nothing more from them....or is there some unreleased material you're discussing for a poss future release? Now that would be interesting
