Streetsoul Records 25th release Commemorative Vinyl 45
Scotters commented on an article in News Archives
Congratulations Andy for 25 releases now! Some great records and artists featured over the years. I think I have most of what you've made available and have just ordered one of these, brilliant, looking forward to playing it and whatever is next. Cheers, Steve -
I can't see it anywhere, no mention of it through Daptone unless I'm missing something and they're usually quick to post new releases up on SoundCloud etc. Can you share a link or anything please?
-
Must be really difficult for artists and record companies to know how many 45s to get pressed up with each new release, shame they then miss out occasionally when something as good as this takes off and re-sellers end up profiting, rather than the artists and originators of the music. That's the way it's always been I know, probably moreso on the soul collecting side. I thought Daptone had got some more in, as at first the record was quickly showing as sold out when first released a few weeks back at $6 each, then showed in stock again early last week, now sold out again. I can't wait for the LP if one is being finalised. Absolutely brilliant new release this and instant dance floor reaction.

Shame the track has been removed from you tube, I enjoyed listening to it a couple times but no idea who it was. Recall the heading something like "Obscure crossover soul! - I'm gonna miss you"? Or could've been "I'm gonna love you"? Looked like a black or dark label but camera angle on the deck too shallow to stand any chance of reading it. Might have been Texas area? Male vocal. Lovely track though and wouldn't mind knowing who it was or hearing it again sometime. Original poster on you tube maybe wanted / still maybe wants to keep it covered up, so to speak, as most of their other records posted up had artist and title. Cheers, S

Hopefully one that Steve will remember for his big Birthday! Appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity to play a handful of records here for the first time..three lots of three I played alongside Brian, between dancing to what he chose and will hopefully also post up later. Great review John thanks, to once again remind us of this superb compilation and in addition to all those interviews, the many radio shows and playlists that thankfully still exist and can be accessed, which I hope remain for many more years...I'm barely scraping the surface of all the tracks and artists he clearly worked so hard to find and learn about during his short lifetime https://sittinginthepark.com/shows.them I have the cd but just a note that I think the vinyl lp has four less tracks? Cheers, Steve

Looks great..just ordered and can't imagine how much time and effort, digging around, time at the computer etc has to go into a project like this. Well done..Just in time for shorter days and longer nights! cheers. Steve -
Not sure if this has already been mentioned elsewhere but just seen that the 2nd part of "The Story of Stax" is being aired at 10pm on Radio 2 next Monday. Episode 1 is still available on BBC player until the end of the month too. Link here. Cheers Steve https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07rh1mr

Epitome of Sound seems to still be fetching higher prices with each year that ticks by, hardly anyone now wanting to part with their copy for various reasons.

The Sunday Soul Sessions, Stanwick Hotel 15th May
Scotters replied to Scotters's topic in Event Playlists - Reviews
Loads there I'd never heard before Brian...particularly liked the Warning notice on the back of the Willie Wright LP sleeve: "WARNING - This is not a disco record - It's designed for adults of the world - Teenagers, this album may be too lyrically heavy for you, especially if you're into fast music." -
Thanks again to those who turned up for a listen etc. We'll be back there again 17th July & 18th Sept, then see how it goes. A few plays below for some of the usual suspects who couldn't make this one and anyone else who might be interested, or not . More to follow from others I'm sure. Cheers, Steve. Linda Perry - I can't give you up J.G Lewis - I'm the one who loves you Evette Busby - What went wrong Ron E. Beck - Been a long time Adrena - Right here with me Reggie Washington ft Tracey Arrington Wright - Could this be Dwayne Scivally - Point of no return Cyndiva - You could be the one Dynamite Dyous & The Green Tree Express - You made my living worthwhile Little Ron Johnson - I keep telling you Cooperettes - Win all your love Ron Harrington - It happened to me again Charles Brimmer - The feeling is in my heart F.J. Jones - Gone and found another

Honestly never heard of Deezer until I opened this thread, but I already like the name, so thanks for that. Subscribe to i-music rather than Spotify but rarely use it as just seem to be constantly catching up on Podcasts, Mixcloud things posted up by members on here and the superb weekly shows like Mark Merry's Soul Sermon Mix up / Mick O'Donnell's Soul Discovery & Steve G's Solar radio shows etc..and then Soundcloud / Bandcamp, not forgetting good ole you tube surfing now and then. Love the way that phone / tablet / laptop etc sync the same music and I still think the Bluetooth invention is amazing (car / portable speakers / headphones). It's never been so easy to listen to music and hear as many new sounds as time allows, but then occasionally I do like to play a record, tape or CD or two and never fail to be amazed at how those old inventions still work, sound, feel...cost! I do often wonder how long before it all contracts...too many services and choices?, less is more?, so diluted but then so good too if you want so much? In the end I'll use whatever is easiest to use and works well but can't help always being drawn to the iTunes side of things.

Man From Soul - Now Open - A New Record Sales Website
Scotters commented on Manfromsoul45s's article in News Archives
Great service with my first order a few weeks ago thanks and slick website that works well. Good to be able to search by price, label or artist too. -
Enjoy the ride and great that you'll have the weather for it! Was good to see Jonno dedicated in Yarmouth last month, squeezed into his best MAMIL gear, out bright and early to get some training in after a late night on the drink...at least that's what he told me he was doing anyway All the best and have a great soul night celebration after! Steve.
