  1. Antellects? Only seen one sold so far but was told a quantity Four Tracks Troy Dodds
  2. There is a "genuine" vocal already of 6x6. Its a motown acetate and John Pugh owns it, I think he spun it at the 100 Club too some years ago. Oh, and it's utter shite too, absolutely terrible.
  3. This has been booted but it's a ploain white label with a different arttist on the flip. Forget what flip is though. As far as I'm aware no lookalike boot.
  4. Forgot to add that Tim Brown rates this at £800. Great records that did gain plays later on in the 80's. Tim's threatening to play it out so could get some of the exposure it deserves.
  5. Hull version posted Mike, will do a edited version of the up down one later and post. 100 Club very good, attendences have been very good lately with many stopping till end. Some top tunes from Butch Mick, Ady Ni9ge Mayfield and Dave Rimmer. Tune of the nite has to be Butchs Gerri Taylor cover up "It's Beautiful" f****** brilliant would be big in any era this one. Magicians was good too and can't wait to hear the femme version. Who ever said there was no new sounds out there! This is what the scene is and alweays has been about for me, hearing quality new sounds. No point in travelling all the miles I do to hear the same old same every week. As for Lifeline tickets are available, anyone interested shout up and we'll sort summat. I will have some this week, Mick H and Andy do have them with them wherever they go. Rob won't be djing in Feb due to work and Cliff Steele has become a resident.
  6. It's the same as Betty Everett and The Exceptionals if thats any use. Used to have it and did tape it before selling it, will try and find it. Chalky
  7. this would probably set you back a tidy four figures now. Saw one last year only vg which went for £700.
  8. The Hull version doesn't have the balls that the Up Down version has. The brass not as prominent and that fog horn brass whatever it is isn't there. I can post the Hull version in sounds if possible Mike or I can send you the RA and you can do it. Can send an edited version of the Up Down one, wouldn't want to send it unedited as I promised I wouldn't.

  10. Personally though it was very good and so did virtually everyone I spoke to about it. Can'r wait to hear the female version that's lying in wait. Chalky
  11. He got a lot from KTF Audio, including dozens I posted on the group. Personally think it's a great site for quick reference if you can't find some info or you want to hear a track being discussed in cyberspace.
  12. Tony Galla original is in 3 designs Black/white dj, black issues with silver lettering and yellow with blue lettering. Boots are yellow with black letting. Johnny Hampton has Nashville Matrix stamp yellow label. Chalky
  13. Just like to add total b******s too!!! Not a lot more I can add that hasn't already been said in defence of Mark. Personally saw nothing wrong with the article. You say a few good ones, I didn't see a bad one personally! The scene will always revolve round rare expensive records. Records of all prices have there part to play, and Mark does champion these but it is the rare records where much of the interest lies. Chalky
  14. Not sure about femme track with seagulls but there's a male mid tempo with seagulls "Fransiscans -Walk To the Bottom Of The Sea" on Jimbo. Chalky
  15. was reissued on smash and the reissue has the mercury logo as well as the smash logo. Chalky
  16. Hi all,Just a quick note to let you know that this Fridays Scenesville gig at the Phoenix has been cancelled. The venue has a policy of allowing the pubs regular drinkers to stay onfor the evening club and while it was not initially a problem for us toaccommodate this, the number of people doing so recently has been enough to interfere with the atmosphere of the Scenesville event, and we didnt feel that the resulting night was what we had set out to offer. There doesnt seem to be an easy way of resolving this issue, so it seems best to cancel our remaining dates at the venue. The management understands and sympathises with our decision, and we remain on good terms with them.Could you please pass this message on to as many people as possible so that nobody makes a wasted journey on Friday night?Incidentally, In case of doubt, theres a message up on the websitewww.scenesville.com) confirming this, or they can e-mail me atdriveller@supanet.comMany thanks,Nick

  19. Well after a great night at the Wilton with a quality dj line up it was time to leave for North Wales and make Monkeys of ourselves (Andy Dyson and Mick H, the two guests for the night and myself. Arrived an hour and fifty minutes later to be greeted by such a wonderful sight, two lasses in fancy dress, one dressed as a genie....f*****g ell could have rubbed her lamp but as my hands were full with Andys record boxes any thought of playing Aladdin soon disappeared Was sorely tempted to put the boxes down and head next door but as we werent suitably dressed for the occasion had to settle for the Drunken Monkey Soul Club! All I can say is top night and top crowd. Musically great with the emphasis on quality, non of the usual overplayed hammered to death soul you get at some other venues. We all had a great night and cant recommend this place enough, you really ought to try and get along. Crowd were fully appreciative of all the records played regardless of individuals tastes. As I said earlier Andy and Mick H were the guests and they didnt disappoint. Both played blinding sets as did all the djs on the night. Our ears were treated to sounds like Soul Inc, Sensations- Demanding Man, Robert Tanner - Sweet Memories, Vanguards on Shirley (listen out for this great choon), Locations - Mister Diamond Man, Nu-Rons All Of My Life and many more which Im sure Ill remember when some brain cells have recovered. Maybe Andy can remember what he played and post a playlist Nice to meet all the other Soul Talkers making monkeys of themselves, I wont name names as I dont want to offend anyone I miss out which I probably will with my memory. Left towards the end and headed for Stoke which was a different experience altogether. Again great night and hope to get back there again pretty soon. Chalky

  22. A tale of what went on at the wilton by Chalkie Well what can I say aboout this place except superb. Great venue and the music is what I like to hear at a nighter (hardly an overplayed oldie insight). The nearest I can compare this venue to is the 100 Club. Travelled up with fellow soul-talkers Andy Mac and Mick Brown, got there just after 11pm and straight to the bar to oil the tonsils. First person I met was Kenny (100 Club) and then Mark Hansan. Andy Dyson was at the decks playing some shit hot rarities. Some nice mid tempo items and then a few dancers to get the crowd goin. Stand out track was, according to Andy was Bobby Bennett Try Me Baby???, although he could have been bullshittin. Bumped into Barry James, Paul Mac and Derek Pearson. It really is the next best nighter after the 100 Club, dare I say it maybe better, better venue certainly. The policy of using "collectors" rather than so called big name DJs seems to be working well with a great choice of records spun that you really dont hear at too many venues. Fresh vibrant upfront 60s newies with some quality xover and the odd 80s track thrown in. Stand out tracks for me were the Moments-You Said (Deep), James Lately-Love Friends and Money (Temple), Paulette-Love You Babe (Contact) and the awesome Lonnette-Blue Jeans (MS) what a fuckin record, extremely rare as well, plus too many others that Ive forgot (memory not as good, must take a pen with me next time). Not much of a report as the brain is still a little scrambled. Deffo a venue I shall attend again and recommend a visit to anyone wanting a quality night out. Chalky
