I can guarantee that even if you knew those involved you would still book the DJ's concerned (well some promoters) and support the venues of others involoved. It's all well and good spouting off on a public forum but when it comes down to the nitty gritty....... Before you go around naming and shaming you have to be 100% or you will be knee deep in shit!! You have to be certain of what is going on and have the facts to back it up, no good going by hearsay on a public forum.

There's three, well four actually. Butch, Kitch, Kenny Burrell and Dez Parker has a studio disc, Dick Charles acetate. Dunno how kosher as Mello Souls is a Virtue recording but heard he paid a bit for it.

There's also several original studio cuts of Black Wings kicking about. Have one version on tape/cd, sounds more like it's from the 70's.

The one I'm thinking of that I saw on a DJ's playlist belongs to Rob Thomas/Andy Rix and was being played by someone else. It ain't knocked together though.

I agree totally Mike, one of the records cost one of the DJ's several thousand and he must wonder why he bothers going out seeking "new" rercords that can only benifit the scene. I wouldn't blame the DJ's and collectors who seek out the "new" stuff if they did say f*** it and packed it in!

What's the knocked together track you mention Mike and dare I ask who is spinning it? Would be funny hearing the Jazz FM jingle like you say over the speakers ;-)

It's Levine bodyguard Gavin who recorded them, sent them to one well known dj/producer who "re-issues" (use that term lightly) and also to a well known promoter appparently. Not for me to say who the DJ is really.

How do you know the end prices are real? I take it real being a legitimate bid?

Last one I know of sold for £500 and a couple of mates who were desperate for a copy quoted £500.

Copies of Frank Wilson given out at convention? First I've heard that one! There's more than the three copies anyway.

Old news, was found in Chicago. You'll find a thread on here somewhere about it. Fetched $49,000 I think and I did hear the man himself bought it.
