  1. I'd have to agree with you Pete. Only ever seen to my knowledge this release on DO-DE-RE WC-358 GINO WASHINGTON Gino Is A Coward / Like My Baby (Instrumental) and judging by the compiler's lack of information, no label number so has he/she. WMC 358 to my knowledge is Like My Baby b/w Gino Is A Coward. Never seen or even heard of the ATAC 2830 release.....has anyone else????? I would have to say it's not accurate and based purely on hearsay (especially as there are no release numbers etc) and until see conclusive proof that they all exist I doubt I would be persuaded otherwise. Reminiscent of the Just Brothers & Honey & Bees that are supposed to exist on Wand, until I see them I won't believe it
  2. Gary Sole a Gary Rushbrook spin? Wasn't Syng McGowan a Leeds Central spin for Brady first
  3. Bootlegged as white demo. Counterfeit has STERLING scratched in the run out. Original it's stamped.
  4. They were done two or three years later by Anglo American Gene. Can remember Chris Clark tho'....think it was first spun at Keele when Neil & Jackie Clowes ran it, would be about the time you said Gene, maybe touch later.
  5. I think the one the group member was selling (he was also the writer) has been sold. Shifty (I think) recently got hold of a copy which he has since sold on to a top UK DJ. I know the writer wanted $5000 as I took the call when it was offered to Andy D. Butch as we all know bought the one from e-bay. Greg Tormo has a copy don't know of anymore. All the people spoken to who know of this record say it was never about, including Gilly who's forgot more about Detroit than most know. Not saying there aren't anymore lurking in the states or in collections
  6. Rob Marriott was behind/involved the 10 track lp's. I have one here. There was going to be a 2nd lp but Rob left he scene and never came about. The lp's were sold for £30 if I remember rightly about 300 done, all went very quickly.
  7. I mean the one on e-bay says "The Originals - Baby Have Mercy On Me". Motown I thought usually just put the working title and no artist details.
  8. Motown didn't usually credit the artist on acetates. Is it on the Suspicion one in Soussan's guide Pete?
  9. Some years ago there was a set of about 6 or 7 white label pressings done each had a previously unreleased track on each side, I'm sure this is one with some stickers stuck on. I sold a near complete set on ebay some months ago all that was missing was the Suspicion one as these had all gone.
  10. I've a scan/photo somewhere of the "original" one, dunno where will try and find it. Wouldn't haver thought it would have Gladys Knight on the flip either. The writing looks like stick on labels. Dodgy looking to me.
  11. Dunno Mike to be sure. Andy did mention summat about us going down for one of the shows but never happened I'll give hium a call and try and find out.
  12. I also played Pauline Shivers - You Better Tell Him No which I though complimented this really well Great soul the Yvonne Daniels
  13. Here's ten I did play last time out... 14. It's the thrill of the chase that holds a lot of the appeal. While ever the record is out of your reach you keep chasing but once you've found one the feeling of jubilation if thats the right word soon disappears and it becomes "just another record" sometimes. You then move on to the next on the list
  15. CAn I play two cause I heard Lee Andrews - Never The Less other week and it's NS as good as it gets Awesome chewn. I did a couple of cds few months ago for someone who had never been to a Northern venue as an introduction and she loved them. Will see if I can find the track listings. Anyone who is on KTF might remember me posting them up.
  16. Timmie Williams - Competition - Mala
  17. Neither would I
  18. Dean Parish has IMO as good a voice of many a black artist. And Elvis come to that Listen to Elvis doing the gospel stuff..Lord You Gave Me A Mountain and tell me there is no soul in that
  19. And Insult To Injury...three of hers mentioned that are better Than It'll Never Be Over For Me and soulful!!! (IMHO)
  20. Timi's What's A Matter Baby is IMHO as soulful as it gets.
  21. Yes Timi's What's A Matter Baby for a start
  22. Talking of naff groups...what about Black Abbotts complete with Russ
  23. I thought it was a relative cheapie Pete. Must say I have seen it for a ton though. BTW who's got the first best taste on Soul Source???
