  1. Spot on There is also vitually no need to buy blind, although can be good if you get a good 'un. Apart from the really rare and current sets from top DJ's most stuff is available in one format or other.
  2. we did that intro thing that never got used for the soul source 7 years anniversary thigy. I did ten intros and it's 700kb mp3pro format. Can post it if you want to use it as example?
  3. Heard this played out many times over the years including recently somewhere, was surprised to hear it at the time Class record IMO
  4. Best advice I can give If there's something you fancy and your not sure ask, no matter how trivial, plenty of help and advice on here and other sites. Other than that follow your heart as Bunny Siglerr Would Say. IMO there's a mountian of cheap quality collectabe soul out there, don't just look for the "next big thing" all the time. Ok buying big money records but todays cheapies are tomorrows hard to find expensive records Also IMO the current prices cannot be sustained forever, there's gonna be a crash one day. You only have to look round the record bars and you just don't see the youngsters buying records, mainly 30/35 plus. One day the "old uns" are gonna have to sell unless they are gonna take them with them
  5. Not 100% but I thiunk I have this on a tape from Stafford.
  6. There's good and bad in all eras of the Northern Soul Scene, Wigan, Wheel, Stafford even today be it pop, soul or whatever description we care to give it. Like Andy says they represent a period in some ones life and when thrown in the mix they make up this wonderful scene of ours, good and bad. Something that is utter shite to one is absolutely brilliant to others.
  7. You have good memories of times gone by listening to crap pop Andy See you at the Ritz mate
  8. I'd keep the Gold Spot issue, or if you want the money keep the Gar issue.
  9. Nope, hour and half away. Had a few mates from Northampton area, Neil Smith, Gary & Floyd, Cliff Steele, Tony Parker etc.
  10. Hit reply, scroll down, click browse, search for your attachment, add it and then hit add reply.
  11. Think we'll have to agree to differ on this Simon, whatever anyone says, it won't make any difference as far as I'm concerned, IMO no soul in an instrumental I do agree with you there. Many records on the scene that aren't soul, many records are pure pop, some Jazz orietated, some have a country flavour, some even rock and roll. Most of these aren't my personal listening preference as I tend to look for the more soulful stuff.
  12. Found the ticket, it's for Castaways (Soul Drop turn on the A6), 2 quid
  13. Just worked ok for me, played them all one by one.
  14. a bevelled edge on the run in
  15. I would sooner appreciation those who really deserve the credit, the singers, them that add the soul to instrumental (IMHO)
  16. Just why is someone emotionally retarded for holding an opinion? No one is denying that the musicians are good but it doesn't make it soulful just cause they can hit a note or too. I dare bet that many of the musicians are just session musicians, good at playing their instruments and not from a soulful background, as is the case of most of the funk brothers. Jack Ashford wrote in his book that most of the funks were from a Jazz background and had never played R&B, they were good enough to turn their hand to any type of music The intros topic was totally unrelated, at least there are some vocals to follow the intro....vocals that add the soul to what is basically some guys playing a few instruments Someone send me the Dee Dee McArtur track, have heard it but just want to refresh my memory before I say it ain't soulful (IMO)
  17. The one on e-bay went for $1625. JM was £1900 I think. I think one was a demo one an issue.
  18. He did other stuff on Panther.
  19. It's on Panther. Kenny Burrell spins this version. He's the only one I know who does spin it. I reckon it's as rare as Martha Starr, if not rarer.
  20. Which one I Know The Meaning? See more demos of this.
  21. well bugger me, no one bougth it
  22. Well we'll just ahve a little arguement then I owe you a glass of water for agreeing with me As it's christmas might even stretch to some of the black currant stuff you put in it
  23. Well you've only an hour to go if you want the chance to get this "future" monster Dunno where the seller goes but I'd like to know the areas this is getting played F****** glad I don't go to the same venues as him
