  1. Because there are DJ's and collectors who care about what they are doing, take the time and effort not to mention the expensive to build a reputation etc, so why should some lazy sod with a box of boots take precedence over those who do it right.

  3. Who said anything about £1000 records? I would sooner hear someone play quality cheap records than someone with pressings/boots.
  4. Originals only If you haven't the (original) records you shouldn't be DJing. Plenty of collectors etc who have
  5. Same person as far as I'm aware, demos isssued as Soloman King and the issues as Levi Jackson
  6. Knew one didn't come over Ady, memory not what it used to be
  7. I've a flyer here for Ray's 100 Club appearance Feb 91.
  8. Def 1991. The first Northern Weekender at Yarmouth was 1990 featuring Chuck Jackson, Gene Chandler, HB Barnum, Eddie Holman and JJ Barnes. The ones previous were Motown. The flyers I have are on the RSF under memorabilia.
  9. Just dug the flyers out..... Should have been Jackie Day, Ben E King, Tams, Tommy Hunt, 22/23/24 March 1991. but later changed to Ray, Eddie Parker, Lorraine Chandler, Pat Lewis, Jackie Day and Garland Green...what a weekend Pretty sure either Lorraine Chandler or Pat Lewis didn't come over due to illness
  10. last one...as mentioned by Dave The Drifter
  11. It's A Sad Thiing........
  12. The technical reply...I did a post on terms and definitions which someone passed on years ago and these can be found elsewhere on site.....
  13. One of the scenes great artists. HAd the pleasure of seeing him live few times. His Yarmouth performance early 90's was brilliant. R.I.P.
  14. The only other info I can find on another Crickets is the Grover (Dean) Barlow one from The Bronx. Other members were Harold Johnson, Gene Stapleton, Leon Carter, and Rodney Jackson.
  15. Brilliant
  16. That would explain that one then although Buddy and the Crickets split before his death. The Crickets, after the split moved to the West Coast. Never followed up about the Crickets once they'd split from Holly...did they record?
  17. Larry Trider was born in Lazbuddie, Texas. Buddy Holly's first group were himself his life long friend and Larry Welborn (upright bassist), booked to open a show and billed as Buddy, Bob and Larry. Holly's first official recording sessions were cut with guitarist Sonny Curtis and bassist Don Guess. The Crickets when nthye started recording though were Holly, Jerry Allison on drums and bassist Larry Welborn. Later various musicians were used to back Holly but no Larry Trider, Jerry Naylor or Frank Lyndon. ....I've a list on a double lp of Holly's of every musician used, including backing singers such as the Picks.......
  18. I agree with both prices, maybe bit more but I'm certain one went for silly money recently in auction Not seen the latest e-bay listing yet Marc mentions
  19. Is this so indemand that it's worth this???? Thought it was a relative cheapie....well certainly not this expensive
  20. I would have said 6 or 700 quid mesen. This was £25 on one list in '87
  21. Didn't one go for £400 plus recently????
  22. or if you go to smoothfm.co.uk (I think) you get Dickie Searling instead
  23. Memory needs refreshing, soundfile anyone. Got a soundfile of Love What You're Doing To Me somewhere, average to poor IMO
  24. Not all original copies jump.
  25. A mate of mine just picked one up, it will no doubt be for sale. If so i'll let you know.
