  3. How did you guess
  4. Ahhhhhh...need some soul
  5. This box of yours is taking some sorting Billy
  6. Hmmmm... I've noticed Another methinks
  7. Defo, A credit to Hammy and Ali Duff for sticking to the rarer side of soul, lovely wee venue with a ridiculously cheap bar and a mere stroll from my house, how much am I missing it Mr Hamilton link
  8. I've got soundfiles of all kinds of shite Got some good soundfiles too though (IMHO)
  9. He likes some R&B, the soulful type stuff but the low down dirty stuff like Little Annie does nothing for me I'm afraid.
  10. Yep, healthy debate......it's a lazy Sunday and don't wanna spoil it with an arguement PS I've a soundfile will sort one out and post on site for all to hear
  11. Low but not too low...

    gilly

I'll ask him Saturday when I pick him up if he still carries it :-)
  13. If a DJ is gonna play summat like this then there is a good chance he wil play others like it in his set. Too low down and dirty for me Dunno who set's the boundaries but this steps outside the boundaries of what I want to hear at a night IMO, whether I like some of this stuff or not. Each to their won an all that Personally would sooner hear played out oldies and disco

    Madness

The supplies there alright, he's got a friggin box full. Can never understand the demand with this one though...utter shite IMO
  15. Very true have heard odd things played but stuff like this isn't Northern and has no right to be in a Northern room I wouldn't want to be in the same venue as this record
  16. Allanton @ Shotts, top class niter. Taxi Club in Edinburgh
  17. Your right Nick Butch been playin the JJ Jackson for some years but never really had the exposure to the mainstream soul fans until Andy Dyson got the second copy. Mick H later got a copy and the record now getting the exposure it deserves, destined to be a classic IMO, powerful adrenalin fuelled Northern soul!! Can't help with the mp3 though.
  18. Can see why it''s big on the R&B curcuit but how this can be played in a Northern Room is beyond me
  19. Len Jewell is a legit re-issue and only cheap, £25ish. If it was Teri-de 4 then would be worth a few bob . Connie Clark a boot. Original has yellow label.
  20. Sure did see him at Yarmouth, spent the day with him (dunno how I managed that though ) watching him rehearse and so on, fabulous...the best I've seen I think
  21. One of my all time fave oldies is Roy Hamilton's "Cracking Up Over You" Many others though by him faves, Panic Is On, You Can Count On Me and of course You Shook Me Up Like Roy, Chuck Jackson does the dancers just as good as the ballads. Often listen to the cd Kent put together, hardly a bad track on it
  22. You getting these the right way round Have seen Storm Warning for around the £30 mark recently but definately not £30 for Laws Of Love. If you see another for the price you paid get it me and I'll give you £30 for it.
  23. Gotta agree with you Ian about JW being top three. No one could hit the notes he could. There's a cd of his "Uptown & Upnorth" on Westside and it's class!!! As for the other two, personally think Otis isn't all he's cracked up to be and Sam Cooke a little too MOR in a fair bit of his outp[ut for my liking (cracking read his autobiography though). Roy Hamilton has to be up there, Chuck Jackson class act......
  24. Know where you are coming from Jon. Have seen some "great" artists over the years but some when in the flesh so to speak just don't live up to their vinyl recordings. I'm currently reading the Jackie Wilson autobiography, it says inn there from those on tour with him that his concerts rarely change, the same 10 or 12 tracks all the time with maybe the odd change or addition here and there...maybe did the same for Wigan?
  25. Can remember Bobby Adams - Thats The Kinda Man I Am - Big Bee being spun in the 80's...often wondered why But on listening again...hmmmmmm Sounds better than it did back then
