  1. I know you don't play them games, know you generally press more than most. Its good to see them selling so quick but good music always will. Keep on doing what you are doing.
  2. Fish at first experience records has copies, or had them, I managed to get one from him...you need to press more Alex 🤪
  3. Heard someone say Jimmy Mack on Palmer was Jimmy Soul Clarke, first time I'd heard that connection
  4. Best of Philly session musicians at Virtue studio
  5. Whoever bought Four Voices also bought Pages "H&P" for over £1k 🙄
  6. Live in the studio tonight on The Sound of Soul ™ Tim Brown and Andy Dyson. Should be a good un…..
  7. If you can’t find maybe we haven’t but it has all been discussed and noted who the various Jimmy Mack’s are, except the Detroit one of course. I have certainly posted a link to the story of McMillan before.
  8. Nor am I, nor am I surprised at Freddie Houston too which has been steadily rising over the years.
  9. Its a Philly recording isn’t it, Virtue.
  10. All been covered in another topic
  11. Have to agree with your valuation of Rueben Howell. It has sold for a tone or so consistently. Of the buyer had asked on line in wants he’d have got one for around that too. £500, he’s taken leave of his senses. Just buy the Lp for £20 or so and get other tracks as well.
  12. “BIYMG” is one of the great soul records.
  13. Never heard of any foreign release and neither have I heard of any sleeve, used to have the 45 as well.
  14. I went back the next day and got some better shots. They know you are about long before you get close both the Red and Fallow are wild, not farmed fir the estate. They come down to the lower ground over night them make their way back up as the morning goes on i guess they are used to people about though. Lot of walkers in the area you can get to close though especially this time of the year i made sure there was a tree ir three between me and the large moody red male, he really wasn’t in a good mood
  15. Are we going to pick a record every week of JM's auction and talk it up? It isn't as though this hasn't been up for sale recently. Been two or three this year if memory, Manship auctioned one not that long ago as well. It won't command the two or three times its worth such as Cecil as its not a stomper.
  16. Myself on Dean's show playing some recent, new and some upcoming releases.
  17. I meant to type I believe it is slightly different take, could be wrong?
  18. Butch's copy is another acetate, not the one from the 80s as far as I know, slightly. John Vincent and then Marc Farley played it first, the instrumental, as The Dance Track.
  19. Certainly had plays for some years in the 90s but it was the only copy at the time, or the only one with a Dj. Extremely rare. Great record.
  20. People have it all wrong to assume it is better to bootleg an expensive record. It makes more sense to boot a cheaper not so expensive one that isn a good seller as it raises less suspicion, at first anyway. Better sellers will attract more buyers. Many Motown records were counterfeited BITD, even Gordy's ex wife spent a night in jail. Many of these counterfeits are in collections with people unaware.

It's pathetic isn't it. The music seems to be secondary too far too many these days, they want that instant rarity regardless of the quality.

I get cash flow, outlays, licences, contracts, royalties etc. But surely any business would factor these into their expenses and hope to recover at the end, not expect buyers to stump the cash up months in advance as what seems to be happening. If you can't afford the outlay then really it isn't a market you should be entering is it?

With pre orders, surely a month maximum should be the time to allow preorder, and that is only with a guaranteed shipping and release date. One up today with a release date 6 months away! It is becoming a joke. Radio stations are also getting the tracks months in advance and in many cases they are hammered, they don't feel too special when you actually get the vinyl. I understand the need to plug and plug many tracks myself, but never six months before release.

But you and other label owners are driving the market of scalpers as you call them, I can think of better names for some. the amount you and others press, generally 300, is not enough and has been a bone of contention for a long time. 500 should be the minimum for any quality release. Some who don't do limited releases are selling 4 figure quantities. Surely more sales would also benefit the licence holder as well as the labels.
  25. Most if not all on Chess Records subsidiary Check-Mate.
