  1. I never questioned the rarity of Gladys, know it's about in quantity. Bit I think it's far better record than Chapter Five...just my opinion Never ever liked the Chapter Five!!
  2. The boots have a shiny label, originals dull black (or is it other way round, sure i'm right with first comment lol). A mate was offered the boots (or some) a few years ago.
  3. not if it's same night as the Wilton you won't
  4. No he wouldn't UK issued records be them issues or demos have just never done it for me...had very few UK rsoul ecords. I much prefer the US artist or group on a US release
  5. Garnett Mimms isn't lost...Kym Fuller has recently met and interviewed the man. The interview can be found in a recent edition of Soul Up North
  6. The dinosaurs comment came about because you questioned whether Gladys was played when it does get played, pretty much everywhere bar the west midlands it seems. I know of several who have asked where they can get the recortd too and know quite a few dealers who have done pretty good business in the record...that good no one needs to go to you it seems Pete As for your set there was nothing wrong with it as far as an oldies set goes, in fact it was a pretty good set, except for Chapter 5 crap uk pop IMO As for what the punters want I wouldn't expect much else from the west midlands, every time I've been in the area it's pretty much all they want...must be the least progressive area in the country but if thats what they want.........
  7. I've even had requests for it so not everyone a dinosaur stuck in oldies mode
  8. Nice set Jordi, some nice records in there. One or two not familiar with too
  9. Why didn't the owner of said discs just dj?
  10. I've never had a problem with Gladys, usually played to a busy floor whenever I've spun it
  11. As I'm a fan of american soul music it has to be a US demo Never really bought UK stuff, just the odd record here and there....
  12. Think the last dozen or so been around the 600/650 dollar mark.
  13. area 54 No longer a wimpy but sure it's still a cafe when I used to wag school we used to spend the day in there
  14. :graynone:
  15. must be summat wrong with my taste too then
  16. remembered (I think) Fusion was next door to Odeon (upstairs of Winding wheel), across the road was the Fascination (I think)
  17. Nowt wrong with Jock's taste, top dj IMO in his day some of the cds I've had off him lately have been fab and we had a good afternoon session with the vinyl recently at his place.
  18. I've recently seen one of these in a box....but I can't remember whose sales stuff it was
  19. Is this the Fusion you are talking about Kenny? If so it was either the upstairs room of what is now the Winding Wheel, next door was the Odeon cinema or it was just across the road. Sure it was the first one, that I am sure had all sorts of scoffolding, poles on the dance floor, fook knows why......
  20. It's Little Johnny Truit. I was listening last night but can't remember which one Mark played but certain it was on Abet. Anyd Dyson played another of hius on Abet last week on Radio Magnetic called Little Johnny Truitt Your Love IS Worth The Pain. Fantastic soul.
  21. Gotta agree Jock mate George Hobson without doubt a great record but records like Yvonne Vernee & Combinations is what you got into Northern Soul for!!!! Tommy Ridgely is one of the finest mid tempo records your ever likely to hear...ok I'm a bit biased with that one
  22. Ocapellos on Checker, 30/40 quid?
  23. Demos always been around the £150 mark, issues a bit more. Dunno if this has been subjected to crazy price increase, shouldn't have. Have stuck it up in the gallery for you, listen /index.p...cmd=si&img=8476
  24. Do you mean I Know The Meaning - Rose St John & Wonderettes?
  25. know the feeling Kenny
