it should be in the sound section, I'm sure I posted this long time ago. If you can't find it I''ll sort you one.
  5. the demos are issues with just a simple stamp reading Nev's post. Maybe because of the fault they were stamped and used as demos to avoid selling faulty goods.
  6. Neil Kimble a recent example of a fairly cheap if not widely known or much exposed record that shot up. Went for over $700 not so long back on the bay.
  7. Well the nighter scene knew it before then, Butch and others already mentioned had been playing it a good while, long before some mentioned in these pages.
  8. JIMMY BURNS ARTHUR WRIGHT
  9. I guess so and I guess not
  10. Haven't seen Pitfall mentioned yet. Magic record
  11. check your PM's for the Clay Brown.
  12. I've only ever known it as the Vanguards, can't remember it ever being covered up and certainly known the record since the 80's, as have others. It's already been mentioned as a £15 front page focus for Rod Dearlove back in the mid 80's. Then again I don't think I heard Paul DJ back then although I think I might have that tape somewhere, certainly a couple kicking about from Paul as I remembner doing the odd tape swap but haven't a clue what is on them.
  13. can't think why it was covered unless for the benefit of the scene returnees around that time. It was already known and a big spin at nighters.
  14. Who knows but you don't put "whatever your willing to pay" on a sales list do you Personally I wouldn't want the Southbound Freeway press, I'd want one with the proper label on
  15. JM guide lists it at £500 which IMO is far more realistic value than the popsike value. Too many seem to be using popsike these days to price records when often the auction price is far from the discs actual worth (both under priced and over priced)!!
  16. would have thought it was worth that in pounds let alone dollars. Popsike/ebay not always a true reflection of a discs value.
  17. who was the tape off Marc? Don't ever remember this being covered
  18. agree with you there, no need at all to be told how rare or how expensive a record is
  19. Like I said earlier, I reckon you missed a zero off £40, I doubt very much unless whoever was selling was totally clueless
  20. I don't to some degree. Everyone may have started asking for it then but I still remember this being highly sought after years before then. Maybe it was sites like this and the internet becomming more and more popular that brought it to far more peoples attention? It was at least 400 quid even at the beginning of 2000's. There's one on popsike from 2003 at $1500.
  21. by in-vogue do you both mean indemand? it's been indemand and a big niter spin for over 15 years let alone 4 or 5. Just the same with many records supply (or lack of it) has steadily pushed up the price.
  22. I don't plan my sets either, have in my mind some I may want to spin but you never know how the night will pan out and what is required and how receptive the crowd is to certain types of records. Waffle? I never said owt about waffling, I don't want to hear DJ's waffle on and on but there should be some interaction between DJ and dancers rather than just playing record after record which anyone can do, and with a bit of practise make it flow. The knack is the interatction and still making the set flow. As I said I think most dancers would want a slight breather now and then, mop their brows with their beer towel and maybe a quick drink
  23. Didn't Rob Smith once find a box of these and sell them at a quid a piece I can remember this being a fairly cheap record at one time but records disappear into collections and then it's a case of supply and demand rather than the rarity that dictates the price.
  24. The £15 a pop was back in the mid 80's. He probably had a few and thought he'd get more as fairly well known but they never really turned up in quantity. I've never seen it that low since, I saw it very late 80's or early 90's for around £120 and it's been really into three and four figures ever since. I certainly never saw or heard of one for £40 five years ago, I think you've missed a zero of the end
  25. anyone can just stand there and play record after record, those who don't use the mic might as well just make up a cd/tape stick that on I also think dancers might like a few seconds or so between records now and then to have a drink, wipe the sweat away or whatever else they might want to do
