  1. What about those that were great then but shite now
  2. Del Larks - Just You and I (Mello Souls). That intro and then crash bang wallop, aggro soul (as Jock would say) and then some!
  3. I'll get one of the Winding Wheel (Chesterfield) wehn in town next. It hasn't changed one bit on the outside, doubt it's changed on the inside either, grade one liosted building. There was also nighters before it became the winding wheel, trying to remember name, Fascination???? One part of Winding Wheel was the night club which is the upstairs bit and the large downstairs room (back then) was the old Odeon Cinema. There was also a night club across road that had a nighter or two (was that one the Fascination????) if memory serves me correctly and also the Adam and Eve in the Town as well.
  4. different presses for east coast and west coast press. Think Marks is East Coast off top of me head.
  5. The R&B indies has the years '67 to '69 for the Opex label and '65 to '69 for expo label.
  6. It was also released on the Spontaneous Arts label.
  7. sad news indeed.....seem to be getting more and more regular these type of posts R.I.P. Willie
  8. you just know when you hear the intro your gonna get quality. I'm still looking for an anniversary copy as well....wish I'd never sold mine
  9. I reckon I'd go for Melba Moore too, fantastic
  10. Not sure about unknown quite a few dj's giving it turntable action over hear.
  11. I don't think anyone says 100mph all night do they, I'm talking dancers, be they uptempo or mid tempo dancers/moovers. I've played many mid-tempo records but I'd like to think they were dancers with the right tempo. I go to venues and hear many a plodder, no better than walking pace some of them.....they should be left for the chill out lounge or home IMHO.
  12. I agree with you Mick and I love mid-tempo as much as the next person but the music in the main at a venue should be dancers with the occasional slowie/mid tempo to give some a breather
  13. I also agree that there are too many mid-tempo/beat ballads at times. Not enough DJ's play uptempo dancers!!! Thats what people go to venues for to dance
  14. Didn't know I was in the States It was t'other way round, criticised my set elsewhere (Sheridans I think) then praised Wilton set...word to that effect too. Folk should say what they think but maybe not as blunt as how you say things at time you speak like a Yorkshireman though, don't beat about the bush, straight to the point Like I said do like to see a balanced view of the night and the truth....again I have to laugh at some of the look backs cause I know for fact it wasn't what they sometimes said on the night
  15. Don't wanna be your fool one of my all time fave 70's tracks!!!!
  16. Dunno who that Chalky is but it ain't this one.
  17. Am I, if it says that then I guess I am I haven't seen the flyers yet
  18. I've seen it listed/in a box for more than £75.... Each to their own but IMHO it's one of the worst records I've ever heard
  19. Hi Chris, I'm good thanks, like wise I hope? Fabulous record, other side not too bad either
  20. I've always taken all look backs with a pinch of salt, usually the same few who do them, often mates of the promoters or dj's....do you think most would say anything negative....thought not!!! Me father used to say, "if thas nowt good to say about summat, keep thee gob shut" and as a rule I agree with what he said but I really would like to see what people really think about a certain night just to get a balanced view/arguement. I've been to venues, stood with certain people and we all agreed it was the worst night of our lives (again) yet I see them write totally the opposite on t'internet
  21. As already said, there's nothing on here that wasn't and still isn't said in the record bars at all-nighters. Think I've always had debates, sometimes heated, about the state of the scene, the quality of the music, oldies, newies blah blah blah...... I think half the posts on here are wind ups but some don't see them as that and it's very easy to take the written word the wrong way. I've not seen too much that has crossed the line and you never know it just might do some good one day
  22. I've seen the disc, it belonged to Sam and he left it with a mate to try and sell for him. When I listened to it I said June Jackson. No clues on the label, I've a scan somewhere.
  23. He's had a beef about Soul Source since he was thrown off Mike's original Soul Talk e-mail list by us then mods years ago. He then went on to set up his own "rival" e-mail list ANS. Have I missed a letter out somewhere
  24. small archer is legit..... Boots as you say have no stamp.
