  1. The one I have is about 2.32, the 2.16 one is edited down and the 1.50 or so is the ebay sound file. Listening to what I think it is now, eek
  2. Dean Anderson's Sound of Soul ™ 19th February 2022 with special studio guest the legendary Guy Hennigan. Two hours of great music, its history and stories of years of activity and antics on the scene. Please favourite, repost and share!
  3. think the acetate maybe the Richie Parker/Aaron Neville one Poke used to play, pretty poor if memory serves?
  4. Previous topic here... https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/351631-styrene-west-coast-vinyl-east-coast/
  5. Think they had moved here full time by then. The video for Nothing But A Heartache was shot at an old Abbey in Wales if memory serves.
  6. northern etc on it too, Fred Hughes, Ray Pettis etc
  7. Is that the eBay sound file...that is shorter but it was edited
  8. it was never released, it must have been planned though if a test press was done
  9. Its a test press if I remember rightly not an acetate, but I could be wrong, had it in me hands as well
  10. It is his label, its also his publishing company
  11. The Servicemen is a year later after having a quick look, Feb 67 whereas the Chattahoochie is Feb 66. There are two or three presses on Whittier, one with the car design. One is much later repress it would seem from having a quick look round the internet.
  12. it is for 99% of collectors/buyers. A tiny minority is totally skewing the market.
  13. when two or more get involved in a bidding war, the fear of missing out takes over and all sense and logic disappears. The whole market from Northern Soul records is totally skewed, it basically f*cked. Hopefully some of these false inflating prices will take a big hit one day cause many records that should be within reach of many are now completely out of reach. There is no reason whatsoever or logic why a record that has been less than £1k for many years should all of a sudden triple in value in a short space of time. As said it isn't even rare.
  14. I'm still in regular contact with Larry from the Servicemen, I'll drop him a message about this during the week.
  15. What is it?
  16. I'll post the link shall I https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125136545151?hash=item1d22b8257f:g:LXMAAOSwLk9hurD3
  17. The one you want is an edited version of the 12" release, it is certainly a bootleg.
  18. Just done the same and I can't find it
  19. That was probably the Mill Edwards test pressing of JLTW that Butch has.
  20. Often they sell out of respect to others who may be playing it uncovered? Not in this case though if it is the only copy we know of.
  21. Only known copy isn't the same as the only copy, its the only one they know of. As Drew said you takes your chances if you want it. If you buy it its up to you what you do with it, uncover or keep it covered. It does however give you some degree of exclusivity for a while until he finds another or Sam does.
  22. His visit to Frobisher along with Jackie Ross to celebrate the birthday of Dave Box was one of the best gigs I've seen, fantastic. Legendary singer who wasn't afraid to speak out about the injustice towards black America. His talent didn't go unrecognised in future years as his songs were heavily sampled, especially Different Strokes. R.I.P Thank you for the music. Photos from his visit with Jackie Ross in 2006 (Click the phot and it will take you to the album on Flickr)
  23. you do know this is a bootleg?
