  1. which one John Rowles?
  2. Ahhh, it's all coming back seem to remember that now
  3. Just guessing but I would say Elaine Hill is maybe her real name, the name she used on RSVP????? Not got the latest issue yet, just ordered it
  4. it's was an unreleased alternate version, came out on Joeboy cd or summat like and on an anniversary single for some nighter. Is it Timmy Willis or the Precisions (alternate take)? Can vaguely remember a discussion about this when it first appeared.
  5. My memory is just as bad Jock, I've just got the flyers here to remind me Same excuse as well...being out every weekend I didn't miss one but I can't remember what happened with the Tops, sure they had to change the date.....find it hard to believe two weekenders a month apart Did they turn up? Ian Levine....he was strutting about with Lorraine Silver on his arm if I remember rightly. We had to endure her do a PA to Lost Summer Love during the afternoon session....painful!!!
  6. The first Motown one was Friday 20th, 21st & 23rd October 1990 (program in previous post) Flyer below.... The first Northern one at Yarmuff was 23rd, 24th & 25th March 1990 (flyer in previous post). The second Motown and Northern Soul Weekender was October 19th, 20th & 21st 1990 (always falling on my birthday, as if needed another excuse for a piss up ) The second Northern Weekender was 22nd 23rd and 24th March 1991 The third Motown Weekender I've two flyers, dates and acts changed me thinks... October 18th, 19th and 20th 1991 and 1st, 2nd and 3rd November 1991 (this time with the Four Tops).
  7. Yarmouth the first I recall and attended and was initially billed as Motown Weekender. The first (proper) Northern Weekender held there was the following year, 1990. Program for the first weekender..... Flyer for the "first" Northern one.....
  8. could try checking this guy out Dave??? https://www.myspace.com/dynovoice
  9. Yeah she recorded on Amy - Go Away, sh*t if I remember rightly. Think I took one in trades years ago....soon moved it on. Can't help with Gary Knight I'm afraid. I did find reference to a cd, singles collection, of Tracey Dey...no referene to Laine Hill though.... TRACEY DEY - The Singles Collection The singles collection from Tracey Dey - and a few cuts with Gary Knight as Dey & Knight too! 23 tracks. Jerry (I'm Your Sherry) Once in A Blue Blue Moon Long Time No See Jealous Eyes Teenage Cleopatra Who's That (I Dreamed Smiled at Me) Teddy's the Boy I Love Here Comes the Boy Gonna Get Along Without You Now Go Away Hangin' On To My Baby Ska Doo Dee Vah I Won't Tell Anykind of love Blue Turns To Grey Didn't Ya Hanky Panky Shakin' the Blues Away Young Love - with Gary Knight as Dey & Knight I'm Gonna Love You Tomorrow - with Gary Knight as Dey & Knight Sayin Something - with Gary Knight as Dey & Knight Ooh Do La Do Lay - with Gary Knight as Dey & Knight Marchin Home - with Gary Knight as Dey & Knight
  10. $40 from Craig Moerer.
  11. Laine Hill also recorded as Elaine Hill on RSVP. Both Time Marches on and Isn't It Just A Shame written by Gary Knight who recorded with Tracey Dey as Dey and Knight.
  12. Thats the general opinion of those I know have heard it.
  13. The Chavis and Candi labels were owned by James Chavis and they are definately from Wilmington, Delaware. Both labels started life in the early 60's with Chavis existing into the 70's according to R&B indies. Both shared the same address 617 4th st. I'll post the Silus Phifer/Edwin Johnson & Mellow Fellows record shortly.
  14. I've seen issues sold for around the £40 to £70 mark in recent times. It'll be more for a demo. JM books it at 100/125. The Precisions was one of the best vocal performances I've seen at a weekender. There was only three of them. Ritchie Pitts I think stood in for the fourth Precision who didn't make it.
  15. I've been told there's detail in the run out to suggest Philly. I'm led to believe one of the copies was found in the Wilmington, Delaware area
  16. any decent promoter would provide them for the dj's
  17. front cover from Living Blues magazine....Eddie & Jimmy Burns.
  18. £600 cheap IMHO. Always rated £800+.
  19. I agree tis the cheapest, it's how I record. But I only posted it as another option for some. Not everyone has record decks/tape decks etc near the pc. It also saves on clutter, cables running from one set up to another.
  20. Butch had one at 100 Club. Sure it was £75.
  21. virtually near enough
  22. thought it was a couple of years after the anniversary one????
  23. Depends what the source is for your mp3. I've taken a lot of mp3's from tapes I recorded from my1st collection...no tape noise on those and more than a few posted on here???? Suppose it depends on quality of the tape.
  24. it's a boot. Think Pete is trying to say that they should at least try and make it look like a real one....
  25. quality of tapes should be better than majority of mp3s. When recorded they aren't compressed for one. I've loads of tapes been meaning to go through
