Only had time for a quick read but just to recap...the Parliaments on Unpredictable, Symbol and Cabell one and the same, consisting of members Little Archie Himmon, Mel Harris and ????. The Magnificent Men on Dial & Eastern no connection apart from backing the Parliaments and Little Archie supplying songs!? Please correct me if I've read this wrong!

Sure I've seen a promo photo of Clifford Russell and the Martells and if memory serves me correctly there was one white member, Clifford Russell I presume and the rest were black.

this record far far rarer than many record that often fetch a 4 figure sum. How many times do you see Gene Toones for instance (last one on popsike being over $3k) compared to this.

Yep gotta agree Joan, it's almost an oldie Great record too. If I remember rightly last one I saw sold or up for sale was £1200 or thereabouts.

tis a puzzle with it being on a major. Most majors have the odd one that proves to be so rare. The issue scan is on SS somewhere in a previous Stormie Wynters topic. And it's a red issue.

Last Matthew Brown I saw was £400, fantastic record that is probably not that well known except to collectors??? Steve Smith spin from years ago.

as far as I'm aware not been booted and don't know of it on a cd. Issues the rarest, only know of one which belongs to soul source member.

I don't think I am missing the point, not my point anyway you and others are IMHO by resorting to chart records that have absolutely sod all to do with northern soul apart from the use of dancers and a dj to warm thew crowds up when there are loads of good recortds totally ignored from the 60's to the present day that should be played instead of resorting to chart dross. Very few James B records I listen to and I don't know when Spencer Davis was last played at a Northern venue and to be honest it shouldn't be, it's not what I want to hear anyway. And Duffy wasn't recorded in 1975 so it's all hypothetical really. Said what I want to say, this is just going round in circles.

There was some nighter's at Notts County Football Club few years ago, dunno if mentioned.

If I wanted to hear pop records like D*ffy I'd go to local night club. If I wanted to hear Reach Out I'll Be There (again middle of the road pop) I'd listen to radio 2!!! There are 100's of great real soul and northern soul records from the 60's to the present day that many ignore for the likes of pop crap like Duffy

because it's not new and recorded in a chicken shack is why I got into Soul and Northern Soul not records that are number one in the pop charts....two or three venues on here I won't be going to in the near future

There was definately two rooms Mark, oldies upstairs. Here's an advert from the November 1987 Echoes. Think there was just the one all-nighter after this one, Boxing night. Could have been one more Kebs last three records in his last set outside of London was the Boss 4, Charmaines and JD Bryant.
