we all live in hope Trev, but the facts regarding this record and the label and the fact that the label has been well known to collectors and DJ's alike for years speak for its self.
  3. I doubt Ian we will ever see the point on the scene where there are enough youngsters who have grown up with CD's and digital music for it not to matter about the original vinyl only ethos that the scene has evolved around, the soul scene is an aging scene and too many will leave the scene at around the same time due to their age and it will probably never recover. And as for the Rocket, can you blame the DJ's? I would blame the promotors for not booking the right DJ's for the crowd in there. Too mnay DJ's are booked for the price of their collection rather than their ability and quality of their sets at times.
  4. I don't think it would work Wally mate. I've been to venues where there are DJ's double decking and cause of the different tastes there was no flow to the set and the dancers were in and out of their seats, full floor for one record and empty floor for the next. It would need a lot of thought from the promoters to put the right DJ's in there who could bounce of each other and get it right. But egos would probably get in the way.

oh and Phil....just good it's up there as one of the best discoveries in years, fantastic record. Packs the floor everytime it's played and rightly so.

There's been two or three copies since it was uncovered Trev, hardly "copies surfacing". I doubt very much this will turn up in quantities sufficient enough to make this readily available to the wider collecting audience. Even the Third Soul Trio and the other Parliaments on the label command a price of 3/400 quid. The label has been well known to collectors for a long tome now and if "Rainy Day" is not "that" rare as some have said why is it not already out there along with the other stuff on the label? This is the copy that was on e-bay a while back.....

  11. The sleeve notes on the Gigi And The Charmianes cd from Kent makes reference to the Charmaines relocating to Canada after their contract with Fraternity had expired. It says Red Leaf was an independant label based in Toronto.
