  1. All the events Sooty mention the playing of RLSD are youth clubs, slipper events, weddings etc, events that are of no interest to what happens on the soul scene. They don't influence the scene or any of the 25 fragments of the scene. They are the kind of events for "normal" people with a bit of cheesy northern thrown in.
  2. You have turned a topic about someone into a topic about you again, you do it every time you come on here, sooty this sooty that, me me me me. Who cares what you get up to? Respect if what you say you are doing you are doing but why the need to ram it down everyones throat on a forum about soul music all the time you are here, which isn't very often. I know people who have done far greater but they don't spout off about it, they don't come onto a music forum and waffle on and on. Only you can turn a war into something about you! You are far better off just leaving all that somewhere else and stick to the music, it is after all what we come on here for.
  3. Mainstream? I haven't heard RLSD at a mainstream event. Classic oldies, maybe club soul etc but not out and out chart music such as RLSD. I'm also very welcoming to new people on whatever part of the scene I follow and have helped and supported many over the years. But I am a traditionalist if you like and I find or reckon that records like RLSD will just encourage the playing of more records of that ilk. Anyone not on the scene have always been "divs" which you probably know, the kind of people as I've said before we went to niters to get away from. Of course people are welcome on the scene but why try and change it to something it isn't? Why join it in the first place if you want to hear pop music (I know the scene has had its fair share of pop over the years), I presume you join it for the music and of course the friendship.
  4. You've done nowt but waffle since you came back on again
  5. Talk about stating the bleedin' obvious. You are talking different kinda venues, horses for courses and nothing none of us fail to grasp or understand. The first one is of no interest to us, div venues and weddings, probably the kinda place you belong reading what you write, the kinda place RLSD belongs and they are of no interest to this forum. FFS 1000's of Dj can do what you say they can't, they do it every week.
  6. This weeks show if they don't remove it again. Charlie Rees with a great selection of music is this weeks guest in the studio.
  7. I would want my money back if I heard this or Wooly Bully
  8. are you serious? They are exactly the type of record and the type of people who play and listen to them that I went to niters to get away from
  9. You’ve been to too many div and handbaggers nights
  10. Mint one on discogs this year for £2229 previous one VG+ £1245, US grading so EX here
  11. I shall be cancelling my subscription before next month. For ever one good show there are a dozen crap ones and I rarely watch it now. Every time I take a look I find little of interest.
  12. I would imagine you would go through the representative body for whichever country you reside in to license others work, in our case in the UK the PRS, they have according to their website agreements with over 100 countries.
  13. Mixcloud for some reason removed last weeks show, citing breach of copyright, onlhy been posting the show for about 6 years Here is a new link....
  14. The difference between the use of sample and an interpolation explained... https://help.songtrust.com/knowledge/what-is-the-difference-between-a-sample-and-interpolation
  15. Well well, wasn't aware of that but then again I rarely look at ebay because of all the boots and carvers on there
  16. Easy 600 Rod. Not aware of a boot, maybe a carver?
  17. course I'm old enough, we have and have had a pretty OTT one in Chesterfield when it came to Northern Soul niters
  18. A scene full of divs and johnny come lately's, how can they not know you mate? Probably done more venues than most! Newcomers to a venue were always viewed with suspicion once upon a time, usually cause they were thought to be the squad
  19. It's nice to see soul and disco top of the charts but I disagree with the use of the original in whatever form without recompense to the original copyright holder.
  20. Well done mate on the ton, quality all the way!
  21. Some Detroit magic on offer in this weeks show with Rob Moss joining Dean in the studio for some unreleased, alternate takes, instrumentals and tasters of what is to come at Hayley records in the future.
  22. You have some of the best people on the scene but we also have some of the worst. We have some of the friendliest but also some of the nastiest. The scene has always had every element of life. It has people you want to talk to and associate with, it has people you are wary of and people you want to avoid. It has more than its fair share of gossips, tittle tattlers, grasses and n'er do wells, thieves and whatever else folk in everyday life get up to. The scene of old always had an edge. You stood your ground and gave back what you took. If you experience unpleasantness go somewhere else, it will be their loss. Not everywhere is like the venue in the Op, there are some excellent venues with excellent people running them and attending them.
  23. All the companies used recycled vinyl. When making the biscuits, all the off cuts, leftovers would be recycled. You can hear it in records from majors to minors when the oxygen gets in the mix.
  24. when you recycle you get oxygen/air in the mix and that can be heard as noise on a recording even if it is mint condition. It all depends on how good the process is though.
  25. I doubt a bootlegger has the tech, the know how or the inclination to do such a thing. The added cost would be quite large too, not just the recycling but the expense of having to buy 100s or 1000s of 45s to recycle.
