  1. I've known for getting on two years what it is as have others and I know a fair few dealers and collectors who have been looking high and low for saome time for copies and yet its still a rarity. The test of time will prove whether it stays rare or not, you either take a chance on one now or wait and hope they turn up in quantity but there's always the chance they won't. If that proves to be the case the price can only go up.
  2. there was one befoer that one Nick, well from Soul Supply anyway. Rare Soul on CD The Vocal Groups vol 1. If some daft pillock wants to pay me these daft prices I've got the lot

  10. any chance scan of the flip before you post it more useless trivia..... Paul Trefzeger also told me early tonight that there was no such group called the Teddy Boys (who recorded on Saxony). This was in fact John Reynolds with any old artist roped in to sing backing, John Reynolds was the bass player of Bud Reneau's band The Matadors when they played Northern Kentucky..........wonder which Matadors this is, The ones on Chavis/Keith???? Bud Reneau also moved to Nashville in late 60's, this could be a connection with the Traditions who recorded on Barclay and possibly A-bet, are they then the same group that recorded on Saxony? Are the white Barclay Traditions the same group that sang Twinkle Little Star on A-bet?
  11. Bruce Torbert was the one who died in the 70's. He was the Lead on I Gotta Go. I've been exchanging e-mails with Paul Trefzeger all day, I also mailed him the photo (Traditions) Prophonics psoted up and he said they look only vaguely familiar. He met them twice at the most, remembers none of their names but they were definately white. He's not even sure if they are the same band (those in the photo that is).
  12. be nearer the second price in 2005. Seen sold for £1500.

  18. he was surprised and delighted to know there is still an interest in his music. Shad O'Shea has been a well known figure on the music scene in the US, owned or did own Fraternity records, I presume it's the same Fraternity whioch recorded Casinos, Imaginations and the Blackjack label with Eddie Whitehead related in some ways, all are Counterpart Recordings, which was as said a labwel alos owned by Shad O'Shea in Cincinnati. Sure Ady Croasdell will confim or add bit more about him.
  19. had another e-mail from Paul after I'd mentioned Gerri Diamond and in particular the Counterpart release Only You.....
  20. It books at £40.
  21. No great preference to be honest Mak. I've soundfiles here if you want 'em?
  22. I've been in touch with one of the label owners Paul Trefzger and here's what he says...... Hi Chalky, Well, first of all, the groups are not the same. The Ditalians were black and The Traditions were white. The lead singer of the Ditalians, Bruce Torbert who was 16 when he recorded the songs died during the 70's. Some of the Ditalians went on to success with other soul groups but I can't give you the details at this time. I know less about The Traditons. They were found for the song that I wrote (FOREVER AND ALWAYS ) by the lyric writer Victoria Brunke and her husband.............who I believe are both deceased. The first release of the song was on Bell label...............but I think the Tradions of later Bell label fame were a black group that sang a more rhythm and blues type soul. Our Traditions were, I believe, the ones you refer to as being from Nashville..............but I have no information on any later records they did as a group or individually. The sons and nephews of some of the Ditalians had a recording studio in Northern Kentucky across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, and I believe got into rap and sampling, and current music. Hope I've been of some help. Sorry, no photos of either. We were so focused on the music at the time and getting money together that we (each working daytime jobs as we were in our early 20s) came up short on getting photos for promotion and in a number of areas that major labels have the ability to do. I appreciate your interest, wish you the best of luck, and feel free to contact me. Yours very truly, Paul
  23. Abet is from Nashville and so is Barclay I think so could be same group. Saxony is Cincinatti. It's f*cking freezing here!
