  1. in essence it's a futile exercise, for one we can never agree on anything, and two when you grew up and where you went would have some bearing on what was most the important venues to any one person.
  2. Don't know if you know it Bob but there's another by them on the label, forget the title but remember it being nowhere near as good as Another Day. I'll look for details when I go to my mates again.
  3. What about Yarmouth Weekenders? They were the ground breakers as far as Northern Weekenders were concerned.....IMHO.
  4. I wouldn't call Keel or Trentham Gardens trend setting venues breaking new sounds on a regular basis or having any influence on the scene. Where in Stoke, Kings Hall? Hardly what you call ground breaking either is it? So thats three on your list that in reality have had little or no real influence on the scene IMHO and hardly venues of any importance in the grand scheme of things. If Wigan is in your opinion the first where are the likes of Stafford and other venues of the 80's?
  5. even with all those tents with different genres someone would still go into a tent and complain about what was being played
  6. I suppose a tent would be better accomadation than Prestatyn
  7. https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/minit.htm
  8. Never seen a listing for 109.
  9. they were done at the same time, just a few stamped with date, mate who did them is on here but dunno if he reads much. There's an old discussion about this boot and the story behind them.
  10. They are the same record just different takes. The Volcano's on Soul Club is the version played by Kenny Burrell and this isn't the one covered as the Volcanos. The one on John Manships on Soul City is nearer to Butch's which was the one covered as the Volcanoes. Look in refosoul, you'll find both takes in there as I have posted them in the past. One of the all time great Northern records!!!
  11. Is this the one, if so posted this last time the discussion arose....
  12. it worked, pretty good it is too. If it was mine it would be off to a well known actioneer I thinks
  13. didn't qiuite a few turn up few years ago? Saw it frequently for sale @ around the £250 mark. Copies seem to have dried up somewhat now so guess a price hike. Would have said £300/£350 till Dave mentioned JM's price.
  14. Had spins in 80's, never really had it's day or consistently played. My mate used to spin this at Warrington, his first nighter as a DJ. Seen it on the odd playlist recently too.
  15. just checked refosoul both takes in there, just search Jesse James.
  16. the Volcanos is the name given to it by Butch when he covered it up. Its by Jesse James and there's another take that Kenny Burrell plays, bit of laughing at the start. There's a released version by Cliff Nobles on Phil La Soul. Both takes are on here in full somewhere as I've posted both.
  17. any luck with sound bite Martin?
  18. Think the last Jerry & Uniques I saw was I think £300. If you can get Bobby Valentin fro £300 let alone £175 you'll be doing ok. Very indemand and quite a few ask about this but can't seem to find one.
  19. Those who attend and demand the oldies are just plain selfish and show a complete lack of disregard and respect IMHO. They should respect the fact that the night is advertised as a night to hear something different. Stick to what you believe and advertise, if you lose a few punters so what, if you can live with that it won't matter. I bet they will be back before long though. It would appear that your message over the mic might have done the trick though. Good luck with the venue.
  20. forgot about that on the flip
  21. Had the Grapevine copy years ago and from what I can rememeber (not a lot) it was ok sound wise. Never listened to the Sevens/Goldmine one.
  22. Bobby Bennett I've seen listed for between 700 and 1000, not sure about auctions. Rooisevelt Matthews various prices from £400/£450 upwards. One one bit cheaper. Mirasound acetate, depends how good it is I suppose. If I've heard it I can't recall it.
  23. Definately exists, good mate of mine has it and I won't publicly uncover it either.
  24. unissued? was released as far as I know....forget details off hand, will tell you later when have chance to check.
  25. Soul City, great taste Di Been spinning this out now and then for few years.
