  1. the lame excuse of well we are after a different crowd so the clash won't matter always makes me laugh I said this in the too many chiefs topic that there are too many with self inflated opinions of themselves who care little for the bigger picture and only in what they are doing and f*ck anyone else UNTIL promoters start talking with each other and look at the bigger picture the scene will continue in the mess it's become. They should put the scene first and put aside any egos and petty arguments, then the scene will be healthier for it, musically and socially!!. As it is the soul night scene (and the all-nighter scene to a lesser extent) is alienating many, splitting the crowd, friends falling out over in essence f*ck all and in the end driving many away. The area that started this toipic, there was four or 5 venues within approximately 30 minutes of each other this weekend.....whats the point? Why not get together, talk and have two full venues spread over the weekend, one Friday and one Saturday....with no acrimonious arguemnts, splits or petty feuds going on in the background. It's simple really. If this was to mean a venue closing then so be it, the scene shouldn't be suffering like it is it should be prospering.
  2. I was thinking last night I'd seen a red vinyl copy but wasn't sure if imagining it Have put one on ebay in the past and that might have been red but can't for life remember
  3. soundfiles anyone?
  4. another scan for you Ken.....
  5. I can't see the point in running a soul night, there are so many out there as it is so why bother with the hassle. Most say they are trying to do something different but in the end they are really no different to what's already on offer. There are very few that really do offer something different, I mean really different. DDA @ Lowton and Greatsone two that sping to mind that do stick to their guns of offering something other than the tried & tested. Can only think of the Attic in the midlands since the Union closed. So I'd save me pennies unless you are really gonna offer something different and just go along as a punter, there's enough venues out there now so why add to the choas.
  6. having not watched was assuming clip from Northampton
  7. Has she been over here before? Yarmouth????
  8. Yep it caught my ear too and has had a few repeat plays but unlike AAISAD the other two are the ones with maybe some potential for a venue. Flashback has already made it of course with the original acetates in the hands of two of the scenes biggest DJ's, past and present, Searling and Butch.
  9. less than seven quid on amazon Jock, bargain. Had a few cds through this week, Tommy Tate, Luther Ingram, Brooks O'Dell, just gotta find the time to listen
  10. think you've seen the topic I mentioned already
  11. there was a discussion a week or so ago about vinyl to laptop. It'll be in the PC, web section.
  12. As Dave said, mid-tempo my arse Fabulous Northern Soul dancer!
  13. yes but one went the previous night on ebay for half that price Marc, $655 I think. I know some have been sold privately too but for what I couldn't say. I agree it sounds great at a nighter, loud, better than at home or on refosoul for example. It's filled the floor at Lifeline.
  14. it has had spins now and then over the years
  15. one on JM's site now for £150
  16. Sent Al Williams and Moses Smith these four I can send later tonight as they aren't on the computer, unless someone can send you them before. JACK MONTGOMERY - DO YOU BELIEVE IT JACK MONTGOMERY - DEAR BELOVED LESTER TIPTON - LOSING AGAIN DONNIE BURDICK - CANDLE
  17. sent.....2nd jerry Williams I sent is the better one I think
  18. these on the way Joan, sorting some of others now.
  19. got his cd Tell It like It Is through the post, fabulous, highly recommended. Summat like 13 unissued tracks on there.
  20. You've forgotten more about music than Jock will ever know
  21. Take it still on about the Mustangs? Gotta agree John flip isn't too bad. Mustangs 0f Austin, Texas Feat Matthew Robinson - Tender Loving Care - Stangs Mustangs 0f Austin, Texas Feat Sahra Scott - How Do You Quit - Stangs
  22. who's asking you to like the record? it's your comments about being overpriced and bland that are puzzling, it's far from either, even if you don't like it. if your not wet behind the ears then you know full well that £2600 for a record that numbers less than 10 known copies is pretty reasonable in anyones book. And I ain't belittling you either. If you think Tommy & Derbys is bland then I doubt very much your collection will be full of incredible records to these cloth ears
  23. I've seen some stupid comments on Soul Source over the years but you've made two of the best here I know everyone has different taste etc but to say it's overpriced is way wide of the mark, especially when compared to some of the records that fetch a similar amount, and to say Tommy Tate is bland is beyond belief
  24. Butch rarely plays it!!! And when he has it's not pitched up that much if at all, barely noticable. I want to go out to all-nighters and I danced to this saturday night. Too many uptempo records can have a detrimental effect too, especially when they aren't good enough to be played or in the same class as Tommy & Derbys.
  25. One of the best records I've ever heard!!
