  1. I know...realise it's the front he wants now
  2. Kings Hall, Stoke
  3. doesn't sound pop or white to these cloth ears Dave, black as the ace of spades. Steve Green met the lead singer, Silus Phiper in care home. There's another 45 by them on Candi, Silus Phiper on one side, Edwin Johnson on lead the other. It's in refosoul somewhere as I've posted it in the past.
  4. I've seen more Joe Jamma on ebay (where most of the copies for sale have been) but more Paulette elsewhere, lists, boxes etc.
  5. do you mean the mello souls as in Butch biggie? if so they are black.
  6. the intro is longer on one as far as I know although the intro on this Frankie Karl posted is the same as the 7th Avenue Aviators file I have here. Sure it's been said they are different takes as well, was getting the two together to compare again to refresh the grey matter.
  7. Depends how many you've seen in sales boxes, lists, e-bay and other auctions over the years as to how rare you think it is
  8. Tis very nice
  9. yep...or summat your dad wears can't beat a decent pair of leather brogues
  10. if you didn't already know I've done a review https://www.soul-source.co.uk/rare-northern...ling-cd-soul-ju
  11. no thanks mate
  12. cheers Simon
  13. The internet has also made readily available the music Steve, you no longer have to travel to hear a record or buy a record. You only have to ask on Soul Source for instance, within minutes it's usually there. The internet also brings to the front all the bad in the scene, before you never saw, read or heard of a lot of the sh*t that goes on behind the scene, now it's played out daily over the internet. No one cares for the bigger picture with too mmany self interested promoters with many venues poorly attended with little atmosphere and many suffering from politcal (of the northern soul kind) arguements. I'm tired of travelling to what looks like on paper a quality night only to be hugely disappointed, with several factors having an effect, usually politics and clashes. Right now can't be arsed myself with much of it, selecting just the odd venue. The music is always there Mark, whether I go out or not, thats what it's about at the end of the day.
  14. Frankie Karl & Chevrons - You Should O Held On please note not the 7th Avenue Aviators take!!!!! Must be Frankie Karl.
  15. Hi Ian, very popular record for Derek. I'm good thanks, hope your likewise.
  16. but with all due respect Ian, these tracks you mentioned were played here there and everywhere, not just at Alfreton, but before Alfreton as well. Alfreton just one of the many venues in the midlands that these records were played. Paulette had been a big record for years before Derek got it, first via Guy in the mid 80's. And as for Derek I wouldn't associate him really with any one venue as he was DJing here there and everywhere. Anyway it was asked if it was played anywhere these days
  17. It's played out regular, Lowton, Cleethropes, Wilton and others..... Last one I saw was 8 or 900. Did JM auction one, Gingers, or was Gingers Derek Allens copy? Did Tim auction one too? There was one up for offers 600 plus on SS last year. Like Joe says more than a handfull through e-bay over the years despite whaty popsike says.
  18. You would have thought that was the sensible idea, especially as the band can make some money out of it
  19. supply and demand Simon, always been the same with soul records whether you agree about the price or not. According to KGF myspace there was a 1200+ waiting list for the 45 so there is a market and some will pay over the odds, just like the Northern Soul scene. Albert and others have done nothing that hasn't been done week in week out. Saw another for sale myself in a box Friday (don't know how much) and I bet there's a fair few others who have bought multiple copies to sell the spares at a profit. A fair price is whatever the buyer is willing to pay, it's their money after all, again whether we agree or not.
  20. Arin Demain, Ernie Lucas, Karl Evans and Lord Jim.....all one and the same
  21. Ginger as well played it regularly.
  22. £800 + maybe these days. It does get played by the odd DJ. Guys old Patty J & Contacts cover up.
  23. never heard of the name before Simon, that's why questioned the celebrity bit. His page does describe him as Britains best kept secret
  24. dancing in a video does that make him a celebrity then?
  25. it'll probably look better than the label they've used
