  1. I never said you didn't or wouldn't like the music, just it wouldn't be what you are used to hearing when out and about. I agree with your last comment, I pick the venues I go to now for several reasons and when I do go out I don't really want to be disappointed with tired music policies, half empty venues cause of the number of venues within an hours drive etc. Hope to see you at Sean's venue when it does finally go ahead.
  2. It's been played in "northern" sets for years, lots as already said.
  3. You said "I would be interested in this depending what this something different actually will be", Going by what you say on SS in lookbacks, your blog etc, I doubt you go anywhere that will play what any of Sean's promotions in the past have played, i.e. Pitches, which truly were across the board, all era's, 60's to the present day, and by that I don't mean the ones that acceptable to the northern crowd cause they sound northern. You only have to look at his playlist from Friday to tell you it will be different, not what you usually get in the midlands, including Pilsley. His signature says on the edge of South Yorkshire/Derbyshire, so a clue there, but no date yet.
  4. It maybe too across the board for you, I doubt there's anything like it in the area if its anything like what Sean has done in the past Anyone who knows Sean's taste and anyone who went to Pitches for instance will tell you that you will be in for something different. Sean is not the kind of promoter to do what is already on offer at the clubs in the area.
  5. Yes it has since your initial post thanks to Mark. Having read the topic in question I would agree with you that it will offer nothing that is already on offer at plenty of venues in the East Midlands. Anyone with half a brain cell who attends venues in any area will know by the dj's what is gonna be on offer. The only event on the horizon in that particular area that will offer something different is the one that Sean Hampsey will be promoting. That will be truly across the board, unlike the northern 70's oldies that masquerade as across the board, it will offer something different.
  6. This one and Barbara NcNair You're Gonna Love My Baby probably my fave motown records that saw a release.
  7. I was thinking the same or do you only have to sell three copies to get that high on the charts
  8. agree with you Chris, on the occasions I've been to Willington I've enjoyed it. Thta reminbds me too bout time I caught up with Gilly again!! Goole now Sean, but I will get down to your local sometime in the future
  9. The new venue could well be offering something different from the likes of some of the venues you listed. Most of the venues in the East Midlands don't offer something "different", very rarely straying from the same old oldies. that's why I always travelled to get my fix when I lived in Chesterfield. There's probably only the Attic that would get me to travel back to the east midlands right now. What topic and whose venue are you referring to?
  10. I'm with Pete on this one
  11. Yep I still play this, magic record IMHO. Been fetching over $100 on ebay, one of the last I recall $122.
  12. Don't think you have got it wrong Neil. Pretty sure Tims got the 1st copy, warps an all
  13. Thought Tim's copy is the one Jonathan had???
  14. thought so, went via Martin Koppell and Tim B to Kenny didn't it.
  15. Probably just that, rumours. Wasn't it Ron Murphy who got one of the few from someone who worked at the pressing plant??? Never got past the demo stage and supposedly just 6 pressed which were again supposedly destroyed?
  16. maybe one of those that sells for possible more than it's actually worth rarity wise, often see it listed for ton plus, whether it sells everytime is another thing but I have seen it sell for £150.
  17. not sure Simon, will have to find the cd and check.
  18. surprised to see this at £75 on JM's site, thought it was around half that?? There's one on ebay at $75 buy now and I've seen listed for between £20 and £40.
  19. had a reply the same day Bob, they are investigating They've offered a replacemnet already but the cd looks home made and as unblemished on the playing surface my guess all like this. Dunno what source Herman used to do the cd
  20. very good but it's not a dancer, well it's not uptempo
  21. It looks like a new cd, but only just Bob, Herman C must have gone cheapest way of doing it. Have e-mailed Herman and cdbaby, no reply yet and don't expect one. I did get the new Jimmy Radcliffe one from them and that was fine but wil;l be having second thoughs about using them again.
  22. Has anyone purchased the Sound Masters Revisited cd? https://cdbaby.com/cd/soundmasters Only 9 tracks but most unreleased so thought why not. Arrived, in the cd player it went but there's at least three tracks on the cd that jump/skip...dunno what source Herman C uswed for it!! Anyone else bought this? If so does it have the same problem?
  23. I have asked how much shipping is to the UK, will let you know when I get an answer. The book is cheaper if you buy through the home page, $45 plus shipping.
  24. yes I've heard it Sean Hampsey got one too I think. It is good
