It's also on the detroit lost soul series Goldmine did with some unissued stuff of his as well, Uphill Climb To The Bottom I think. PS Apologies if already mentioned
  2. Quality control? It's no different today. There was plenty of crap back in the day, it was just they had a far bigger pool of quality than say the last 10/15 years. I agree with you about the Dean Barlow and where it should be left but to many others it's quality, it packs the floor, there were many records like this back then as well. As for completely over-rated Shrine stuff, some yes but wasn't Searling playing some of this over-rated rubbish too.
  3. will PM address.
  4. Welcome back to Soul Source Ian. I think no matter what you did, no matter how good some would find reason to slag it off or put it down just because of who you are and your reputation. Me I don't care, if it's good it's good, if it's sh*te then move on. I didn't like the way SWONS was done origianlly but can't deny that it was a great effort and it gave the artists some recognition, I do though look forward to the re-edited DVDS. We haven't always seen eye to eye and I've no axe to grind, hopefully your contribution to Soul Source can be a positive one and we can share in your undoubted knowledge and experience, after all thats what some of us are here for, to continue learning about this music of ours.
  5. On first listen of There Is A Place I would have said Epsilons. After listening to second track not so sure
  6. You'll be on about the taxi driver, forget his name right now. Been rumours for long time that he has a copy. Was rumours years ago of couple of copies on west coast of America as well but probably just that.
  7. If memory serves me correctly, Ron Murphy got the second copy after placing an ad in local press asking for former employees of the pressing plant. This copy then went to Martin Koppell and then to Kenny via Tim.
  8. $50,000 I think, or was it $25,000 f*ck knows, Tim turned it down anyway
  9. Was given/borrowed by Motown to Tom Dieperro who moved it onto Simon Soussan and then to Les McCutcheon. All the rest ordered by Gordy to be destroyed by the pressing plant as far as I'm aware.
  10. Frank Wilson kept a couple of copies? Is that tongue in cheek? If not don't think he did keep any copies. He offered Tim a large amount of money for a copy.

No but there's one on JM's site BOOT HERE and ORIGINAL HERE Original plain yellow label, boot has two parallel lines across it.
  12. Me behave? You're the one being mischievous Since when has Northern Soul been just soul, not while I've been on the scene it hasn't. Pop with the right beat has always been played.
  13. If you like. Plenty of bad examples of what northern soul was or still is.
  14. if something is played at Northern Soul nights that makes it a Northern Soul record doesn't it Doesn't the term describes a scene and not a particular music style as Northern Soul is made up of many genres and styles.
  15. thats the trouble with collecting soul....many prices dictated by demand, regardless how rare a record is or not.

I've not read this topic since page 1 so to save me reading 12 pages can some one do an edited version
  18. Please Come Back is the popular one by First Grade and £30 to £40, old Gary Spencer cover up. Jeanette, most who would list this to sell would want or list in the region of around £250 to £300, whether worth that is a matter of opinion Lucille Mathis £120 to £150. Not taking ebay into account, these are prices I've seen wanted in boxes or lists
