  1. I've a load of flyers somewhere from the 80's etc, hardly any from 2000+
  2. Spot on Joan, too many key board warriors who have little to do with the scene other than shoot there mouth off on the internet.
  3. Joan and Jayne are both right Beeks. far fewer people travel these days, number of reasons I guess but the music is far more accessible, especially with the amount of boots/reissues etc and of course mp3's. Going back to tapes, well wouldn't be a bad thing, the tape swappers circuit back in the 80's was superb, just not the same downloading an mp3. I like to hear how people put a tape/.cd together, just as I do when I listen to a dj. People just don't bother anymore to travel to hear the records they can't get as they are often availbale at the click of a mouse. I agree the advertising is invaluable but we found out what was on and where to go before sites like Soul Source so I guess the scene would have carried on just as before. In fact word of mouth as it used to be was probably the best way to finds out what a venue was like rather than read what half a dozen mates of the promoter puts in look backs. And the new glossy flyers are just no good...flyers were invaluable for scribbling info down on the back, you just can't do this now with the glossy two sided C5 flyers
  4. I usually get e-mails daily but not heard from him for a few weeks.
  5. Cheers pal, just wondering then why a 12 and not a 7" if same take
  6. Is it the same take Sean or extended take?
  7. the one on popsike was from ebay July 07...$5657
  8. yes on United. Scan from Popsike....
  9. Personally prefer Somebody To Love on MIOB, far cheaper too.
  10. Same here only earlier, got both Constellations for around £15 in the 80's, white demos, which was all you saw then really, and both around in quantity and easy to source. Demand still high for both but shouldn't be too hard to get a copy.
  11. worth that in pounds IMHO. Been one of my top ten records since the day I first heard it. Mid tempo soul at it's best.
  12. didn't it make the charts? do pretty well too? Didn't Kev Roberts have something to do with it?
  13. Driving back from Scotland Saturday morning the show around breakfast time played some Levi. Later that morning about 8.30 Brian Matthew played Lynn Randell Stranger In My Arms.
  14. The Pearls wasn't it?
  15. There's an old topic HERE it has some of the unissued stuff from the Roulette Years cd in the topic.
  16. great cd it is too Eddie there's four killer unissued tracks in the middle of the cd as well as Flashback, again as you say bargain price, about 7 quid on amazon. Ion, hope you are well. A mate of mine has an acetate of the "Put Some Love Into My Life" and "Show Me That You Miss Me". Both without artist credit but we both thought it was Derek Martin, both Teddy Randazzo productions...Razzle Dazzle. Kenny Burrell also has the "Show Me That You Miss Me", was covered up as Billy Woods and he was surprised when I told him what it was when he played it me
  17. either jealous or feeling inferior Simon
  18. Been away couple o days and only just seen this. what time, which show???? is there a listen again facility????
  19. will be worth it for the boot guide alone, and for reference of course.
  20. The studio acetate take is by Jimmy Georgantones.
  21. the better version is the 4 larks - another chance
  22. I think if you re read it Brett I agree that I love the challenge of trying to find out what a cover up is but I keep any info I might have/get etc to myself and not blab it all over a public forum. If you had a record covered up, one you'd spent a lot of money on you'd be none to pleased if it was uncovered on a forum. And as for the crap about not giving the real artist the credit....the real artist would probably never know his or her record is being played and it's hardly gonna make much difference to their bank balance is it. Do those that pay money for records give a percentage to the artist out of respect and to give them some recognition....like hell they do I bet the majority of those listening, dancing to and buying records couldn't give sh*t about artist recognition
  23. the cd is the live recording from the Rocket of Butch's set, thats where the soundfile in refo soul comes from. Andy always plays the other side, more so that Foolish Girl.
  24. yes it is played out, cover up of course and a nighter biggie if you like.
