  1. Demo always been tougher in my experience, as you say the issue was pretty plentiful but hardly saw a demo Both demo and issue carry the RCA matrix but I can only find ARP on the issue, the issue with two sides that is
  2. Is the demo pressed at ARP?
  3. I think it's at the pressing plant now? Out July I think???
  4. This weeks show with two special guests, Luci Jones and Jim Beat Route Cessford
  5. Diggin’ Deep initially pressed 300 for the initial releases but they increased that amount because they were selling out because of demand, top marks to em too. Most aimed at our market are selling out, I’m talking the specialist mainly unreleased stuff, not the swathes of reissues from certain companies. They might not sell out straight away, some might take a few years but they sell. Many get a second wind, Soulutions being one, many Kent releases are indemand a few years down the line. Its quite clear given all the complaints that 300 is for the most cases not enough. North Broad Street last release mentioned with plenty of copies left but everything else has sold out bar one I think with 7 copies left. Most of the previously unreleased stuff is selling out and there aren’t many turkeys released. The cost difference between 300 and 500 presses is not that much. I’ve said before press enough to satisfy demand, stop changing the label colour or vinyl colour with a repress and take the sharks and those exploiting the market off the market.
  6. £160 for a bootleg? May as well make yer own for pennies.
  7. Timi Yuro, not even that rate but fetches more than Sy Hightower, a genuine rarity. Just buy the Timi Yuro Lp and save a fortune. SWONS
  8. I don’t think bootleggers ears need pricking tbh, they know the score and what people want. I was simply giving some context to the opening post in that such a high price is nothing new. Others made a bigger issue out of it.
  9. Motown have never been very good with regards to their back catalogue especially unreleased and commercial failures. Its only really in recent years when other saw the real value and put stuff out that anything was ever done. Did Motown own the publishing for Wingate? Myto was it?
  10. I don’t think the story of tapes being rolled down the hill etc are Wingate/Golden World/Ric tic related. I thought they came from when Motown left Detroit and vacated the Woodward building, think thats the name from memory.
  11. Ric Tic cd Which are a blantant boot and look it
  12. I agree with you but counterfeits and bootlegs are not confined to the soul scene, they are everyday life, from clothes to cigarettes to alcohol to music and film. Stopping all discussion of boots will not stop the bootleggers, they have been a part of the scene since its infancy and will be part long after us. I don’t know how many owners the boot I sold had had but me not selling it will not stop bootleggers either. Their aim had already been achieved by whoever bought it first 40 years or whatever ago. Have you never owned a boot?
  13. Yet you have a boot leg CD or are they ok? Take the others have had nothing to do with any boots as well?
  14. Golden World studio was secured and cared for by Gordy as it became Motown Studio B
  15. How can you compare a listing error to the selling of (historic) 40/50 year old bootlegs? No one condemned John for selling a boot at all, they simply discussed the fact it was wrongly listed, one or two went to far and I did defend John in that respect. If I'd sold it as original then rightly have a go at me but I didn't, it was sold as a non-original item, the person who bought it knew 100% what he was buying and was happy. I don't agree with bootlegging, I do not go out of my way to buy them but I'd be f*cked if I'm gonna put them in the bin to keep you happy. Selling a historic boot/counterfeit is a million miles away from the counterfeiting and carver to order production line you see on eBay today.
  16. They are historic for want of a better word boots. I do not buy boots from bootleggers to sell on. It along with a few others came in an acquired collection, what should I do bin it? Some others I have were acquired when I knew no better many many years ago. Advertised clearly at the time as not an original with a low start price. There is still a small pile upstairs to sell.
  17. Bootlegs are not just confined to Northern Soul with some artist boots fetching far more than any NS bootleg. There is a massive market for anything that isn't original, from clothes to records to football match tickets as we have seen this weekend.
  18. No I said I sold a boot of Salvador's, the one that looks very similar to the original, colour text etc for 200 quid. I think this is the blue on e though so not the same. Neither do I recall anyone mentioning carvers? We are talking bootlegs, 70s specifically, or was when I replied. My post about getting one made for £30 was I in reply to Stephen who for some silly reason paid £100 for an acetate bootleg and I simply asked why when you can get one made for less than half that price.
  19. Why? You can get one made for 30 quid
  20. Show time 26th May 2022
  21. If it is the one that looks very much like the original then this sale price isn't the first time, it has sold for more. I sold one a few years ago for 200. Plenty look what is playing on the deck but how many take a closer look?
  22. it is always been the case if you use boot/bootleg the sale will get pulled. EMI, 70s pressing and carver are the words of choice or something similar, even not original.
  23. Is there anything that hasn't been carved that is in the public domain?
  24. Maxine Brown big fave on the mainstream scene and always has been. Chimes was only a couple of years ago give or take it was still £15, is still up for sale every week by some chancer wanted 100 quid plus. TSU T, same with Chymes, the crossover, chill out venues are on the rise and these records are ideal for those. They are all floor fillers, guaranteed and for not a lot of money in comparison to the big ticket items.
  25. I’m gonna have to start going to a “normal” night soon to escape the divs. Its becoming more and more cringeworthy how the media are shoehorning northern into tv etc. it is far from representing the scene and just make a mockery of it.
