  1. God knows, impossible to work out. For years everything I earnt went on getting to venues etc and records (after board, ciggies, drink and something for the weekend)
  2. Lifeline isn't a smaller venue The way forward is for promoters to program dj's who can play a well balanced set, that flows that also includes a certain percentage of underplyed, semi/unknown tracks, there are plenty that are good enough and are cracking dancers but are disregarded in the name of safety first attitude. A Dj who seems to get on these days is one who waves a blank cheque at records, not one who uses his or her imagination. And I see so many plugs for venues that claim to be underplayed etc but often fail to deliver when I've either been or seen playlists.
  3. you forgot to mention the best upfront all-nighter (not just my opinion either )Simon, Lifeline October 31st. The only other nighter with a likeminded ploicy that makes me want to go without driving for over 3 hoursis the Wilton (oh and Bidds when I can). I agree with many ofyour points, the scene has been a failing scene musically by and largefor years. It gets more and more retro every year. Many people spouton about how they want something different but you never see them whensomething is promoted for them, even local to them!
  4. forgot the Fascinators, was indeed Boss Four.
  5. Debonaires Tina Roberts Joan Baker Out A Sights Monorays
  6. aye I know, just thought I'd repost the list
  7. Keb Floorfillers, appeared in the Echoes in 86 or 87.....
  8. A DJ is there to let those who booked at taxi know it's turned up at end of night A Dj's job is there to entertain and educate (otherwise there is no point going out) but the balance has to be right according to the venue and the policy. But there a too few promoters these days who are prepared to stray from the norm and get DJ's who are prepared to educate with a few unknowns/semi-unknowns, which is a pity.
  9. two good laughs in one topic, getting spoilt tonight. Nice one Russ!!
  10. Brilliant tale Barry, funny as fook.

  16. maybe Little Tommy (Tyrone Thomas) will answer your questions Bearsy.... https://www.myspace.c...eliltommythomas https://www.freewebs.com/butahbeats/ I also posted a biography of him in the past I found on t'internet once upon a time. Mr Wiggles was Alexander Randolph and he owned Golden Triangle, Hemisphere and Sounds Of Soul and based in Richmond, Virginia.
  17. Some info in the Highland bit I did in my blog, it's taken from one of their Lp's...
  18. Have you tried Andy Dyson Phil? He did have one. Dysonsoul@aol.com
  19. Didn't think Butch played this, I can't say I've ever heard him play it, certainly not at the Rocket when his set was recorded (if thats the one you are referring to).
  20. the Philly Dj Kae Williams also owned Junior Records.
  21. sorry mate I didn't read it all properly, trying to quickly catch up
  22. yes but the drug of choice back in the day made people dance all-night, talk b*ll*cks all-night and by an large didn't attract an unruly element only there cause there was a late bar and an opportunity to try an pull. Now I like a drink with the best of 'em and back in the day I could pour it down me but the fact that alcohol wasn't available at an all-nighter made them IMHO a better experience. Alcohol brings out the c*nt in some folks who can't handle it and as said it's usually all over the dance floor. But I su[ppose times change and we have to realise that venue owners make their money from the bar and most don't give a sh*t if there was a northern night in their venue or a "normal" club night.....most prefer the normal club night as usually mnore alcohol is sold. Maybe all-nighters should go back to membership only, any membership to a soul club gets you in anywhere, bit like working mens clubs at least that would keep out the p*ss heads!
  23. but he hasn't made an authentic record, he's covered an actual 60's record. The music gives it away as a "new" recording to these cloth ears, as said earlier to programmed.
