dunno Nev, I was just wondering that if someone has two copies of a highly collectable record such as the Young Brothers, then I was wondering if he had any other gems in his collection, or even doubles. As for slagging off, you should know by know what Soul Source is like, some have nothing better to do or say than slag something or someone off.

    probably
  3. Chalky posted a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
he didn't Bob, he says he found both in same collection. Wonder what else he had doubles of

well to these lug oles the Whats Your Game sounds much stronger than the present copy on ebay and the Baby side has no where near the hiss etc the copy on ebay has now. Listening to both soundfiles they sound different. The description also give a different grading too. The seller clearly states he found two copies in the same collection.

its from the same seller. he says he found two in the same collection.

nothing to be sorry about. one side is in pretty decent shape and if the grading for the flip has he calls it is of usual US standard then it will be more like vg+ or better to some UK dealers. Its a rare record and as it is only the inferior side (IMHO) that is damaged it will still sell.

dunno about fidelity but there are two releases both with a different take of Baby.

who gives a f*ck...the seller clearly states the condition and half a dozen bidders, who I would assume have read the description are prepared to take a chance, presumably on the "Whats Your Game" side which plays pretty good to these ears and not the inferior Baby. what has 100 watchers got to do with the end price? doesn't mean they are interested in bidding. I'm watching, have been since the day it was listed but purely out of interest.

that can apply to a large percentage of the records on ebay!
  10. Hi mate, hope you had a good Christmas? I can just picture some poor soul trying to get to the toilets with Ozzie, Tommo and Co sat at the top of the stairs!! Great all-nighter whilst Guy ran it. Didn't feel the same when it opened again few years later. Be good to see what they didn't show!!!
  11. as the original post was asking for books on the history of the music here's three off the shelf, again sorry if they've been mentioned... Souled America..... https://www.amazon.com/Souled-American-Black-Transformed-Culture/dp/0823084043 California Soul... https://www.amazon.com/California-Soul-African-Americans-Diaspora/dp/0520206282/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1261737795&sr=1-1 and Savage Lost by Jeff Lemlich which is essentially about Florida Garage Bands from the 60's and Beyond but has plenty of Sou/R&B!! https://www.limestonerecords.com/website/author/author.htm Happy reading
  12. one of the various photos of the Funk Brothers in the Motown Album, again sorry about quality of scan..... Top....Jamerson, Hunter, Cosby, Front...Benny benjamin, Larry Veeder and Mike Terry!!! Not a bad band eh
  13. You (Sorry Diane) won't regret buying the book, some fabulous photos, particularly of the Temptations, Marvin etc. Here's a taster.....sorry bout quality but scanner is awkward to get to, will attempt a better one later Contours on stage....
  14. Not sure if these have been mentioned but for old photos, scans of sleeves and info you can't go wrong.... Heart and Soul, A Celebration of Black Music Style In America 1930-1975 by Bob Merlis/David Seay https://search.barnesandnoble.com/Heart-and-Soul/Bob-Merlis/e/9781556705380 and Rubin MolinasOld Barrio Guide To Low Rider Music 1950-1975 https://www.dustygroove.com/item.php?id=hbym7cmp9h out of stock above but do a search and you might find one.
  15. Merry Christmas to you too mate. Kerry having a little nap right now so feeding myself mince pies Look forward to the review. I might get the Motown Album out and scan a few. The prices quoted on the link are a steal IMO for such a quality book. Disappointed as the fourth volume of the R&B Indies hasn't arrived yet!!!
  16. Hi, yes I did look at the pictures. I can't read French but I might invest in one though. The Motown Album I have can be seen HERE cheap at the price offered for the quality of some of the photos. I paid a fiver form a book shop in Bakewell for mine, was a US import that should have been $65!
  17. yes but the gouge is barely audible in places surprised he didn't add the suitable for DJing that some sellers use for discs that are sh*gged!!! Still, someone prepared to take a chance on it
  18. I already have the Motown Album, its basically book full of photos, fabulous they are too so dunno if it would be worth forking out for something similar.
  19. Agree with Callum, he did a great spot when I heard him at Move On.
  20. what is the text? English or French?
  21. Think much of the released stuff was aimed at a more MOR/pop market whereas the unreleased stuff IMO leans more towards the R&B/Black Music market and was maybe limited in sales?

We discussed this once and it was revealed that Gladys is Gaye Jamison. There are also credits on the Love release to a Gladys Patrick.
  24. think the last one I know sold (and not auctioned) was around £1500.
  25. at a guess not a lot now. had many of these unreleased gems long before Motown actually put them out on cd comps, as have others.
