    aren't there additional costs with Gemm which are then passed on to customer by the seller? Whenever I've sourced through Gemm I've usually bought from the seller privately to get round the extra cost.

    Morning Gimme the Martells and Melvin Brown any day over the Sheepherders. Never really taken to the Sheepherders, rarity over quality IMO.

    It has been picked up and played by others, has been a regular spin out and about for a few years now. I wouldn't say it was a tad overlooked when it fetched $2400+ and it got more views than the Martells.

    Do you know which issue of Shades of Soul the article is in? I'll dig it out and scan it. I don't doubt Dan's article, he did the research, Robert Holmes is credited on both the discs.

    this one is to be precise Silas Phifer and the Mellow Fellows and Edwin Johnson & The Mellow Fellows. They are the Mello Souls. Not a great record mind, either side. Sound clips are in refosoul.

    Back in the day hardly saw one on either then saw more on Bell but in more recent years seen more probably on Southern Artists. If both came up for auction I doubt there would be too much price discrepancy between either release.

    bloody hell, can't say I've been looking, last one I took any notice of was around a couple of years ago was for £300/£350...on here I think.

    It could well be the reason stated but if I remember rightly I got the track off a tape sold by John Manship, as I'm sure many others bought it at the time....if the track had been given to me in trust it wouldn't have been posted but it wasn't.

    Think there are two other unissued from around the same time and all three are available on the Uplook Story from Grapevine. I can remember Andy Dyson getting the You Got Love from US to play out about ten years ago along with some unissued (at the time) Ronnie Walker tracks.

    there is just one in each group left from the original line up as far as I'm aware. Theo Peoples, (or is it Ronnie McNair on lead), is no Levi Stubbs and without Levi singing it isn't the Four Tops is it

    I think it's a slightly different take. There are about four takes if I remember rightly, Dave Thorley has other takes on acetate. Fabulous record. Another good version by Ray Gant and the Arabians which you can pick up for £10/£15.

    Probably a good night out but surely unless they are singing new material the Four Tops is just a tribute act now? Personally having seen the original line up a few times anything else would be a disappointment.....same with the Tempts singing all the old stuff.
