  1. here's an earlier flyer....
  2. I'm sure I remember getting my membership card and the nighters being cancelled to start with. I was surprised it was as late as it was, thought it was at least a year earlier in starting, i'll have to dig echoes out and check.
  3. second anniversary flyer, January 1990 (I thought it was earlier). I've the 1st Anniversary I think in the garage.
  4. under which promoter? First time I went there was when Guy was running it, think the first one was beginning of 1988 or was it '87?
  5. Hi Dave, is the one you have the same take as the one on e-bay right now? Sure I have a sound-file somewhere from when the one you got was on the bay.
  6. the soundfile for the scan I posted should be in refosoul, if not I'll post it.
  7. Here's Lifeline, next one April the 24th /index.php?/calendar/2/event-14854
  8. I should have known that, it was too easy Sorted now, can actually see the drive way up to the farm and the signs at the end by the road
  9. yeah see the scan above How do you lock yourself out of popsike???
  10. certainly seen others, but others have had BSC and few details on the label...
  11. In your opinion it doesn't work, for plenty of others it does work. If it is danceable it will work, Stafford last week showed you can play the genres and make it work, dancefloor rammed all night. I agree with floaty stuff (what genre you referring to though?), that is no good at an all-nighter, you need dancers although the odd slowie when programmed right can and does work. The venues that cater for the down tempo stuff is a different matter....don't go if you don't like what you hear. Not every venue is put on to satisfy you, me or anyone else but there are venues out there that cater for the taste of each of us. As for the change in styles that depends on how good your DJ is. There are DJ's who can change the style and still make the set flow and work for the dancers.
  12. There's a Lonette on Dearborn
  13. How do you edit your event on the map? Looking at the map and street view for Lifeline it is about a mile down the road as now streets or houses in the near vicinity. If you look at the road where venue is pinned, go back towards the M6 and the venue is on the track on the right of the road, 1st one from M6.
  14. at Stafford last week there was all types of soul music played from the off. All were played 25 years ago so considered oldies as such but I dare bet plenty of it would be considered too modern for many of the across the board promoters
  15. Don't really know SteveJ, but Tats is quality, one of my mentors when I was a nipper Steve G answered the question for you really, but why are you limited to DJ's from the Midlands? what is it with the Midlands and sticking only to Midlands DJ's? There are plenty not too far away. Sean Hampsey, Bully, two from just up the road in my old town who can do quality soul music from all eras.
  16. the 70's is probably more rightly classed as 70's northern so can't really class it as across the board, it has to include plenty of other era soul to be truly across the board. nothing to do with oldies vs. anything else, in most experiences across the board is far removed from what it is supposed to mean. More often than not nothing past the 70's except Drizabone, Angie Stone etc are played and they are more northern in there appeal than modern. You rarely see a modern DJ at one of these Across the board venues for some strange reason
  17. yes but these are modern to the oldies crowd, hence across the board, I'd love one of these across the board nights to book Robin and let him play what he played at Stafford t'other week, see how across the board they are then.....but then again that set could/should be now classed as oldies
  18. Too often it means one of the DJ's plays Angie Stone - Wish I Didn't Miss You, Drizabone and the rest of the night is oldies. I've challenged one or two so called ATB promoters who I now didn't play northern to the present day to post playlists so we could see for ourselves. Needless to say they never posted any. If they claim to play across the board it should be northern to the present day....
  19. There is a dj program, Virtual DJ I think it is called, as well as a set of virtual twin decks for djing this program will alter the pitch, key etc doing what has been done to frankie beverley at the click of a mouse. Pit the program on Ellie's Pc a while back and she had sussed the program in about 10 minutes, she was soon altering tracks on her PC.
  20. can only find 7 of mine
  21. I was given a photo by Karen (darlington or somewhere like that) of me in Mansfield in 1987, was in Mansfield and I presume trotters. Nige Parker in the photo too and few others, bit of Gary Churm and couple of Chesterfield lads. I'll scan it when I get the chance....I look about 15 As for Hollingwood, I've some of the anniversary stuff somewhere in the garage, car sticker etc, I'll check it and that will give the dates when it started.
  22. they must have been inflicted with some sudden mental illness Greg, crazy if you ask me. If they had asked on here they would have got it for a tenner or so. Always liked Tomorrow
  23. not the adlibs, thought it was uncredited tape/acetate as said already.
  24. he was spinning it 86/87, there is a review in Shades Of Soul, could have been George Sharp who reviewed it
