I would say they are all tough to find but out of them all the Timco release would be the easier one to get.

The 6x6 vocal isn't very good at all Ian, in fact it is pretty bad. There is a previous topic about this and John Pugh has an input top the topic too.

plenty have seen and heard the acetate in question, some very knowledgeable collectors at that so why doubt what some are saying simply because you (and some others) haven't seen or heard it? It isn't very good mind

It was probably Sam who spun it at Lifeline, he has been spinning it around the country for a while, as have a few others.

like you say Paul depends on the venue, the atmosphere and the open to something different the crowd is. George set pretty well received at Lifeline when we was at Bidds, doubt it would be received as well elsewhere at 4.00am, not a full hour anyway. I doubt a full hour of this would be well received at any all-nighter at this moment in time, not in the main room?

The Menzola release is a one known copy isn't it? Seen a few of the Timco ones.

When they were done originally there was I think only Half a dozen with the date on them. Like Darren says when they first appeared some went for a lot of money, one or two thinking they were real.

The ones with the date is the rarer boot ;-) They was done around the same time as the others you mention but not by the same person, would be around 1990?

Think it's always been one of those Ian that has been bubbling away under the surface for want of an expression but never really had its day. Like you say maybe now is the time but somehow doubt it unless someone like Butch plays it then everyone will want one to play So many good tunes bubbling away under the surface but too many DJ's lack any imagination and need to know something is popular before playing it.

I would assume you are simply playing devils advocate here Derek but you know that anyone who has been around records for an x amount of years knows when someone is extracting the urine. It's not hard to find a price, often it only needs five minutes or so to find a bench mark figure for a record. Yes there will be discrepancies but isn't there always in life? The difference here was the seller was fully aware of the record going through ebay on many occasions and I would assume the prices achieved yet still lists at a figure in £'s when it doesn't fetch what was asked in $'s.

does anyone really give a sh&t if a track was played at the time or not? I don't see you giving Paul stick for using tracks which were not about at the time his play was set. Artistic license is used in practically every film which has some truth to it. Whether the film is any good or not at the end of the day it's not a bad sound track is it? I can think of worse. Ok one or two a bit cheesy and would have been better if not used but there's some great Northern in there Trackdown, fantastic

I would have said about £800 but that seems a bit off the mark looking at the two auction prices. However auctions not really a true representation of the actual value most of the time and I've seen it for sale around the £800 mark a few times. Don't see it very often and see no reason for it to come down in value. Neither is this an unknown, been around years and had plays over the years.

Considering what he had done and achieved in the business I was some what disappointed with Jack Ashfords book. For a start I was expecting a book with at least twice as many pages.

Good unissued Motown has been introduced to the scene for 30 years. Folk have been going through the vaults for years. Motown missed the boat big style with these packages, most of good stuff was already out there. There's still good stuff that hasn't been officially released on cd yet.

Pretty sure the acetate to 6x6 got an airing at the 100 Club once upon a time. It does exist but would appear to be a waste of time trying to convince you Tony. As for unissued Motown, there's plenty that can't be found it would appear, alternate takes of Suspicion is one for a start, one which even those who have been through the vaults haven't come across, think there is at least two takes not in the public domain....or widely at least. Now I would buy that cd comp. I still maintain that the latest offering, as good as the artists may be is only average. Some of the tracks are pleasant enough, a few are good but by and large it is an average compilation...IMHO of course. I will of course give it another listen just to confirm my beliefs. On the evidence of what I heard the other week I can wait another three years for the next one.

Some more tapes converted this weekend. These are 3 of 5 tapes from the Chapel All-nighter in Rotherham. 6th June 1992 at the Chapel in Masborough. Ray Hudson and Snowy the promoters. The Travellers rest would be the warm up soul night, I was a resident there. From what I remember it was a pretty decent venue although it had seen better days. Can remember the plod coming in for a walk round. I have lost the first two tapes so if anyone has copies can I have a copy please Probably one of those with me on I've 6 sound-files altogether about 45 minutes a piece except the last which is about 30 minutes.
