  1. If I remember rightly Steve Smith had a white demo of Tony Clarke, seen a couple go through ebay. Here's a scan from Benji's site, thought I had a better scan of one of 'em but can't find it on the PC.
  2. yes but no requests which the origianl question was about, a request for a record tht had already be played by the previous DJ. Well over 20,000 tracks on Ipod in wagon
  3. could get a bit expensive though and a pain running to the bar all the time for change to feed the thing 150 records or so in a six hour soul night, whoever owns the jukebox would make a fortune
  4. The question was could you play "whatever you want" twice a night TODAY. We all know X Y and Z had multiple plays back in the day but back then they were new discoveries with the DJ's trying to "break" the record to the scene. As I said it is really a pointless comparison. As good as Suspicion, Benny Troy, Jewels etc etc are, after 40 years of DJ's hammering them would you like to hear then several times in one night on today's scene? I somehow doubt it. Unless it is a new discovery I don't think it is necessary to play anything twice. There's something wrong when DJ's can't choose say 200 records for an allnighter from the 1000's available to them without repeating tracks played by DJ's on before them. DJ's should use their imagination a little and promoters should encourage them to do so, even if it is an oldies night. Does any promoters have a ban on repeat plays? I've seen it advertised once I think that repeat spins are not allowed.
  5. Hi Dave. Good thanks likewise I hope? Gail Anderson on Salvador?
  6. Kell Osborne on Highland just 3(?) known copies?
  7. I don't think Flynny is accusing you of anything(especially lying) or implying that you are abusing people. You made a reference that all copies had a inherent hiss due to a pressing fault. Quote "all of them were pressed with this kind of noise" unquote. He was simply stating that it wasn't true that they were all pressed with a hiss and that some copies are indeed hiss free
  8. Richie will probably say that I haven't listened to the others yet, was just going by the first post. I've heard it several times and fail to see why it should be compared to Rare/Northern/Modern Soul.
  9. can anyone give me a reason why this shouldn't be in freebasing entertainment, where IMO it belongs? Fail to see what it has to do with Northern, Rare or even Modern Soul? It's a pop record.
  10. There's already a topic about this on here Deb
  11. IMO it's rather pointless comparing playing a record twice in a day to say at the Torch or Wigan. For one they were new or fairly new discoveries back then. Today they have been hammered for up to 40 years. There are 1000's of records to choose from so don't really see the need to repeat plays throughout the night, just shows a distinct lack of imagination of both the promoter and the DJ's. Unless it is a new discovery I would avoid repeating a record at all times.
  12. Deadbeats as I said in post number 11.

  18. Have you not tried Gemm Moldie
  19. is this the same Charles Mann? Charles Louis Domingue was born Nov. 22, 1944 in Welsh, Louisiana. As a youngster he would sing along while listening to the radio and later in life joined the church choir. At 16 he joined a local band, Ricky and the Hound Dogs, singing rock & roll and South Louisiana Music, now known as Swamp Pop. Later, he joined the group, The Electradoors, from Gueydan, Lousiana. In 1965 their first single, "Keep Your Arms Around Me," was recorded and "Charles Mann" was born. The single became a huge regional hit which was soon followed by several others.

  24. I wouldn't mind a copy pal  Gotta agree his had a fabulous playlist at the time and many of todays DJ's would die for it. Have fun over t'water.
