  1. Hello Peter Just the other day I was wondering about you. Very brave of you to come back and speak of your illness. Hopefully you are well on the mend and hope you get back to some sort of normality, for you, your family and friends You were a big part of Soul Source, very active and have friends on here, reach out if you need to although I know that is easier said than done. Take care Chalky
  2. Don't think they are classified but no wish to spoil the surprise for some
  3. No it isn't, I know what it is now
  4. https://www.firstexperiencerecords.com probably sold out now
  5. Watched it a few times, 5 year old now.
  6. It is a shame the same sort of energy cannot be given to what should be relevant to the members on here
  7. There are some articles of some wonderful soul releases on this site, old from the vaults and new releases, yet barely a mention on them. Some cover by an over the hill pop star of a poppy overplayed record and you go crazy, 73 comments, probably more comments than for all the new proper soul releases this year altogether, releases that are more relevant to this site and its members.
  8. Some must have their lug oles painted on, it's crap. So much cheese its unbelievable. His voice doesn't lend to the record at all, terrible. And to make him out as some top soul dude is even worse.
  9. Another tape conversion and another courtesy of Eddie Hubbard. This time a collection of Groovesville acetates found in the late 80s but Tim Ashibende.
  10. Wait for the beat....
  11. The Temptations were 60 this year and I've just come across this 3 part youtube documentary series they did about the group. Part 1

  12. Why does it take a modern day remix to get folk interested in a track from 1978? or even 2012 on the Jap CD? Anyway it has sold out on their site, Fish has copies at First experience for £18 and copies on ebay for £20, leave the greedy barstewards on discogs alone.
  13. Pretty sure Dave Thorley did a couple of nights, think he said he sat in for Richard when he was on holiday?
  14. I thank all he covers are pretty popular with pop markets and probably why he went for the better known, don’t think he could have picked much whiter “soul” music really in the majority of his choices? Have to agree with what baffles you, constantly puzzles me too when people on the scene are amazed when Frank Wilson is mentioned in any capacity away from the scene. It is a pop record and definitely not rare given the amount of releases it has had on various formats.
  15. I don’t know but very possibly as he worked quite extensively as a session musician LA where he lived.
  16. a brit as well…. https://www.adampwhite.com/westgrandblog/2018/7/13/frank-assessment-anew and probably a second session to complete it with some of the wrecking crew https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjs1LK99L76AhV7QEEAHXx5AqcQFnoECBEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.soul-source.co.uk%2Farticles%2Fsoul-articles%2Ffrank-wilson-the-story-of-do-i-love-you-indeed-i-do-r2565%2F&usg=AOvVaw0XPAQu_VfsFcLGgVE5squS
  17. Not sure why I said Chris tbh, know they aren’t the same, it was 3.30 at the time having just up
  18. Well its not really soul music is it. Just cause they are played on the scene doesn’t make them soul either.
  19. I did read she is a sister in law or something like that, I only read it a day or two ago but can’t find where now There is a recording of Notts Palais on the tube with Sam playing it, 1978 if memory serves. It could have only been a brief spin as it remained relatively unknown. Still a pretty rare record and probably suffered because of that.
  20. It’s Barry Despenza’s label or he is heavily involved, his music publishing etc
  21. Guy’s Monsters ‘87
  22. Yes it is Paulette Despenza
