  6. Don’t worry Ive heard plenty of crap that more than made up for it
  7. Very uncharacteristic of me
  8. Who in their right mind would play this let alone cover it up.... What a sack of crap. The northern scene really is scraping the barrel.
  9. They probably did, it’d be the divs the scene is full of buying this. So much good soul music out there that is ignored and we have to talk about this crap all the time.
  10. It is just Paul Williams
  11. Dean Anderson presents The Sound of Soul 23rd March 23 - 8pm till 10pm - 2 hours Listen Live "LIVE CHAT" Listen Live Gary Rushbrooke is unable to travel to the studio, so......... John Durant has kindly stepped in to join us all on our show tonight, bringing his soulful quality music to our listeners..
  12. Wilxy or Richard Johnson?
  13. Barmy film, all over the place and a bugger to follow
  14. Whichever is Number 3 (Thomas Circle, Washington DC), it was the home Shrine Records (the town house on the left we believe). The photo is from 1968 or just after, at that time it was a radical centre in the City.
  15. Haha, I doubt it though. If I remember reading rightly Eddie didn't have any 45s, the masters for Horace Lps came from the Guy who owned the studio, Edgewood?
  16. To be the best you have to be able to offer something others cannot. Many that are paraded as the best offer the same as each other, same big ticket records, same backward looking outlook to the scene or scenes. But at the end of the day it is a very subjective topic and really many don't look at what a Dj has to offer or what they have contributed to the scene. By that I mean moving things forward, keeping it fresh. I know that has got more and more difficult over recent years. Colin, the first mentioned, a great DJ and one of the most innovative, his contribution cannot be questioned across the many facets of the UK Soul scene. Richard Searling is right up there, not just for his contribution at Wigan etc but for his 80s and 90s soul. If I was to look at the Northern scene post Wigan then it has to be Butch, Andy Dyson too in the last couple of decades or so, not just for what he has played but what he has supplied others. although there have been others in spells too who have all contributed, Guy Hennigan, Keb, Dave Thorley, Ady Croasdell etc etc. We are of course looking at this from a very insular perspective. There are other underground scenes where they too would have a very insular opinion. It is impossible really to suggest the best Dj without prejudice? Yes we have our favourites but that is a different discussion altogether.
  17. Nice to see Shrine get a new lease of life and some quality releases to showcase the label. I would imagine there are many out there with lots to learn about the label given the influx of "new" people to the scene. It deserves all the fuss the Loma releases got.
  18. One of my faves
