  1. All sorted then, decent topic. Glad my ears didn't deceive cause having listened again at home, despite knowing the answer, I still can hear the slight difference in then voices. When you look ate the credits though, Jones and Hayes etc across the discs it makes sense.
  2. Some superb choices on another wonderful Lp.
  3. Plenty of examples out there of single sided discs, usually promos.
  4. The Baby Miracles/Young Folk certainly fit the bill age wise and also a Jones/Hayes recording
  5. As we say it is all conjecture and we will probably never know the real truth without either specialist software that would say in all probability it is or isn’t MJ or the session logs.
  6. It is the same correct matrix BUT stamped. No other stamped copy to anyones knowledge has ever surfaced…not that we have heard anyway. Not to say one hasn’t.
  7. As you say it is all in the ears of the beholder. Unless it goes through voice sampling or comparison software we will never know. Just listening on the iPad whilst they sound very similar one is slightly higher than the other.
  8. Hi Dean. I have seen single sided myself but usually have a label. With this being stamped do you think it is probably out of another plant maybe or an early master?
  9. MSI Co, Philly pressing plant. Can’t always see it, not all the stamp but you can feel it. Stuff like Magnetics on Ra Sell, releases on Genges etc have the same stamp. You can see it clearly in this topic. Could be anywhere as well under the label. Seen then after the group name and title, at the topic in the label name etc.
  10. Last nights show. No guest this week but some exciting guests lined up.
  11. Cleethorpes in the 80s was run by Steve Croft, didn’t start till late 81 or 82, have the date at home.
  12. The number of people pretending they are 18, coming out of a niter sh*t faced and looking like they have just been dug up is decreasing year upon year. As I said the scene as we knew for many it has gone, many can get their fix without the drugs and wasting the best part of a week recovering. Just enjoy what there is however you wish to enjoy it.
  13. The classy “Sitting By The Phone” b/w Bill Albright’s latest recording “In The Middle of The Night” are Soul Junction’s latest release. Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
  14. Press Release: Bill Albright “Sitting By The Phone/In The Middle Of The Night” SJ1020 Release Date: Friday 7th July 2023 Sophistication is a very apt description of both the music and the performing artist that is Bill Albright (real name Anthony Bills). Born in 1961 and raised in Baltimore, MD. Albright received a vocational as well as an associates degree in Electrical Engineering and Technology during 1981 the same year as he was blessed with the birth of his son Anthony Jr. From 1982 through to 1985 Bill had moved to New York City to model professionally for several major retail corporations such as Macy’s and Bloomingdales making good use of 170 pounds, six feet tall frame and handsome photogenic looks, while still finding time to hone his singing, songwriting and studio engineering skills through attending art Composers Theatre. His musical management and composing skills were to continue upon his return to his native Baltimore in 1986 as the prelude to him joining the national fundraising touring team for The United Negro College Fund in conjunction with the National Basket Ball Association (NBA) Slam Dunk Contests. Interacting with such celebrity players as Magic Johnson, Arsenio Hall, Spike Lee and Robert Townsend and Atlanta Hawks team mates Spud Webb and Dominique Wilkins. Through his travels during 1989 Albright decided to settle in Atlanta, GA, making it his home to this present day. Once settled he founded his own cleaning business ‘All Bright Cleaning Services Inc’ built on good old-fashioned ethics of hard work and a strong determination to succeed, the exact same traits that he would later display in his future musical journey. While providing his cleaning services to major commercial companies, home, office and car detailing Albright found the time to continue pursuing his musical ambitions with a strong emphasis on live and recorded performances. In 1993 Albright formed ‘Bill Albright Productions Inc’ working with the late Keith “Keecho” Rawls the former Keyboardist and Musical Director for Peabo Bryson. Albright’s work has often been likened to Peabo’s for obvious reasons as well as Luther Vandross and Johnny Gill, He also draws inspiration from the stars of his youth Nat King Cole, The Isley Brothers, Frankie Beverley and Marvin Gaye amongst others. Albright's productions while being contemporary still retain an old school leaning which widens his appeal to a broader audience. Feeling that the time wasn’t right to release his material Albright continued with his successful cleaning business and live performances, that was until 2022 when he released the first of his productions (as a download only) the stylish “Sitting By The Phone” which gives more than a passing nod to Billy Stewart’s timeless classic “Sitting In The Park” but recorded in Albright’s own unique way. Albright’s second and forthcoming release is the more contemporary mid-tempo mover “In The Middle Of The Night” (only available as a download in the United States) but is due for a simultaneous vinyl 45 release in the UK paired with the aforementioned “Sitting By The Phone” as Soul Junction’s next 45 outing. 15. But the vast majority are of Derby and Joan’s age so rather than a tea dance why not Northern. Young Soul Rebels no more, its no more a cool sometimes edgy place to be. The only pills they will be popping will be for arthritis, blood pressure and any other old age ailment. The scene we once knew has long since disappeared into the night.
  16. More evidence Northern Soul and the classy, cool underground scene it once was is now just a middle of the road market for has been musicians. They are I guess trying to be hip and down with the kids but their interpretations just sound so dated, easy listening for pensioners. Who will be the first div to play this at a venue in a ridiculous attempt to be hip and upfront
  17. I was talking to the guy who played bass for the Admirations and wrote I Want To Be Free, it is the Admirations. I will see if I can find the messages and maybe get back in touch with him. I agree and definitely female backing/answer in there.
  18. There was reels that Secret Stash came across in the Onederful reels that were nothing to do with Onderful or the Leaner Brothers. There is one fantastic track by Syl Johnson. It could be the Jacksons ended up where it shouldn’t. I would imagine the producers and arrangers and indeed the studios were so busy and going through sessions very quickly it would be very easy for material to get lost or misplaced. The lead on Heaven Is In Your Arms is young, much younger than the lead on any Admirations recording but after listening I don’t think its MJ. I’m only on the ipad and will compare again once I’m home.
  19. I’m away right now for ten days and cannot listen on anything decent

  21. As the two topics are about a specific record and this topic is about a possible conman then maybe they can be merged so all the group information is in one topic?
  22. I have heard some of these already and they are quality. It will certainly be an interesting release from a historical point of view to anyone with an interest in soul music. I don’t expect them all to be good listening though. I have heard some songwriter demos that are truly awful
  23. I’d given up trying to keep up with all the reissues
  24. Revised discography that @Tlscapital Comp’ed on another topic. Thought it best to include here…. Only Walter Smith as original member of the Admirations kept on to do "his things" in music. And pretty good to say the least. But that's whole other chapter or even another story further down the line. Beginning also by tying the Walter & the Admirations legacy to him. - JUNE 1967- The Admirations 'my admiration for you' on Paree (Otis Hayes & JimmyJones working too for the One-Derful group) - JULY* (?) 1967 - The Aspirations 'you left me' on Peaches (with the PEACHES logo to the RIGHT first then repress with the logo to the LEFT) (Eddie Silvers working for One-Derful group + same fonts typos as for the One-Derful presses) - SEPTEMBER* 1967 - The Admirations 'wait till I get to know you' on Onder-Full (Eddie Silvers for One-Derful group + same fonts typos as for the Peaches presses) - JANUARY 1968 - The Admirations 'all for you' on One-Derful (NO MORE EDDIE SILVERS !!! + same fonts typos for the Peaches presses) - FEBRUARY (?) 1968 - The Admirations 'you left me' on Peaches (Eddie Silvers revenge record done alone + re-release under their corrected name of ADMIRATIONS (mismatching typo) to cash on it after being cast aside + similar typos for the credits using different fonts in places than for both the Aspirations releases) And a possible correction to the timeline courtesy of @The Yank
